Arrow AUSTIN | Project Updates Thread Part II

Wow, it took us seven years, but we're approaching 10,000 posts on our first Update Thread so it's time to start fresh.

You may find a link to the old thread here (soon to be edited by Kevin after archived)

Well, we started in '06 with an Andrews Urban/Novare Group project, let's do the same here:

Skyhouse

Kimber Modern

KM (site in foreground, Skyhouse in background)

Millennium Rainey

Van Zandt (I don't believe this is the most current rendering, Kevin feel free to edit if you care to (and erase this))

Waller Center

Waller Creek (have you hugged your Mayor Pro Tem Sheryl Cole lately?)

When the below grade improvements finish, then we well see the magic happen on the surface.

Fairmont

Trinity Tower

JW Marriot

3rd and Colorado

Hotel ZaZa

ZaZa site in foreground, IBC popping up in back

IBC Bank Plaza

Block 1 (part of the Green Water Treatment Plant)

Seaholm and the new Public Library

Greatest library ever? Probably so..

(with the new Gables Park Plaza Tower in the background)

(with a sneak peak of the next tower--311)

311

7 Rio

Capital Studios

A crane north of 7th and south of MLK--WILD

Corazon

Really excited for this one. Love e. 6th

Arnold Oil site

And some randos

The last time I started a boom thread, it only felt like we were in a boom.. As such, I'm sure that many of you have spied some projects that I've left off such as Magellan's 5th and Brazos (sweet project), SoCo, SoLa, NoLa, NoBur, UNO, the list goes on. Please snap some pics, throw up a rendering, and let the world know what's happening in Austin. And if anybody even hints at over building, please remind them that when family formation > permits being pulled = lovin life.

Lastly, we all know that we have to get more people in and around downtown, and not while lugging individual 3-5 thousand pound machines along with them, so say hello to our little friends:

Launching in '14, Bus Rapid Transit

And launching today: B-cycle. Right after I took this photo, a group of folks came running up, swiping/singing and riding off. Can't wait till these things are everywhere!!

Nice first post to kick off the next 10,000. But why would I want to hug Mayor Pro Tem Sheryl Cole?

Because she's amazing. Now my question is why in 2014 are people sneaking into my condo bldg and leaving this?

It's amazing that they even get enough advertisers to justify publication.

It's funny that Sears has a front cover ad. No wonder nobody shops there any more.

I hate all of the street abbreviations (SoCo, etc), but at least I know what they are. WTF is UNO?

Thanks for the photos!

Good golly, so many cranes and projects going up; we didn't see this much ten years ago!

I also have to say that Austin sort of reminds me of Vienna, seeing the bike share program at the end of your photos (can't put it into words).

12/15

My camera has been acting up. I can't get it to zoom in or out and I can't change the settings, so I can't adjust for light.

South Congress Hotel

Austin Skyhouse base

Container bar

Boardwalk

This lot behind the IHOP is some prime real estate. This has got to be the last significant piece of land in the Rainey area that doesn't have something planned for it.

Looks like 35 was practically deserted on that pic of the I35 bridge over the river. What time was that picture taken? I think I 'll plan my next trip downtown whatever time that was...and day of week.

There were probably multi-car pileups in both directions just out of view that were blocking traffic.

It was about 2 pm when I took that one last Sunday.

Speaking of creative photo editing...
