Yes, an above-ground pool in addition to being cheaper, also works better as a semi-temporary thing in your yard.
My wife and I were just discussing this, by the pool, yesterday afternoon.
Given that we live in
Gatineau, Quebec and that our pool set-up doesn't take up the entire yard (not even close - there is still over half the yard that's grass), it's not really a resale liability in our case. Probably something of a plus in fact.
