I think it’s just a continuation of the multi year $450 million modernization project

If you google “Saint John Agenda”, then click on “Agenda and Minutes”, then “Common Council” down arrow, then Oct 26th PDF agenda - it’s on page 179
If anyone can grab and post that photo that would be great

They've been doing an expansion there for a while, I believe a there's a warehouse and a new effluent treatment plant underway.

Another rumour. 149 Broad St apparently has a prospective buyer who wants to stop the demolition and renovate it.

Common Council voted to approve Misty Harbour Seafood's expansion in the same location Monday.

They plan to build then demolish the current structure and remove the three empty truck trailers onsite currently used for storage.

Saint John has secured a 5-year agreement with CP and Hapag-Lloyd for rail service at the port. Excellent news.

Letting AIM set up shop was terribly short sighted. They should be in an industrial park. A working port is great, but a working scrapyard is... not great.

Considering the number of issues AIM keeps having controlling their booms, the city may be looking to boot them out sooner rather than later. The cleanup of the site would be a PITA, but flipping it into an industrial rail park would probably be doable.

Yeah, I mean, every uptowner and lower west resident is used to clanking, banging, trains, horns, etc. Explosions, toxic dust, etc... not so much. Why a facility that shreds cars was allowed to operate at the mouth of the Saint John River with no way to keep runoff out stunned me. I'm not a hippie or a NIMBY but AIM has to go.

This is great news for the port! Hapag-Lloyd is a huge global operator and its great Saint John will enjoy the benefits of their service.

I wonder if the spur by Tin Can Beach to the Lower Cove Terminal will ever be reactivated. If not, there's a lot of development land at the bottom of Charlotte.

I whole heartedly agree, but all the city can do is continue to complain loudly unfortunately. From my understanding the land is owned by the Federal government, and the provincial government is regulating it.

So Saint John just has to sit on the sidelines until something is done.
