Boise skyline pictures/dusk and night

Here are some photos I took this week while walking my dog in Ann Morrison Park. The pix are taken from below Crescent Rim along a bike/hiking trail:

There's something so frontier about it, especially in this picture, like a beacon of civilization in the middle of the wild. Thanks for the pics, I think the foothills are one of Boise's best features - I can never tell how tall they are, because they have the structure of a mountain but look no taller than a really tall hill.

The Foothills rise gradually above the city to a ridge of the Boise Mountains which reach a height of around 7600'. The foothills have a "wave" like appearance as they rise. The elevation of Boise is 2842'. This pic shows the highest point right above Boise:

The Boise Mountain range has larger peaks but they are behind and hidden by the Boise Ridge above Boise. Here are a few pics of mine to illustrate what the topography is like behind the Boise Ridge:

Boise and the wilderness around it pretty much kick ass. I hope it hasn't been the victim of too much vicious suburban sprawl. I don't approve of suburban sprawl in any city, but a city like Boise that is so connected with its natural surroundings - I don't even want to think about those venerable hills being covered in cookie cutter housing!

I really like the first picture. The nature of the city and the nature/wilderness nearby solidify Boise as an outdoor paradise.

This view in about a month will be top notch, because of all of the trees going green.

Make that three years from next month, with Boise Place, The Aspen, SC1, and possibly Capitol Plaza, as well as the various midrizes going up! It'll be completely different!

Yes, hopefully in the near future these and other proposed towers and buildings will grace our skyline

Beautiful pictures. I cannot wait for the trees to fill in with leaves and the city turn into an urban forest.
