178 Lwr Malpeque Rd Demo

Not sure but there was a application to acquire the land in this area for development.
The demo'd house is circled in yellow. The land in question is circled in red.
Anyone know more?

It’s such a useless piece of land. He’s been pretty desperate to find a way to make a few bucks off of it. Access is crap, their an energy corridor running through it, and it’s swampy. He offered a free piece to the city for a fire hall hoping that would improve access to what he had remaining.

I feel like with covid, it would be better utilized as residential. Especially since the rest of the area isn’t even fully built up yet.

Just throwing this out there,

The Royalty Centre would be a good location for a Costco.
Costco opened the doors to a 149,000-sq.-ft. warehouse–and the discount chain’s 100th in Canada– in Nisku, Alta (a hamlet and industrial park 15 miles south of Edmonton, population: 30) last Oct. It hopes to have about 110 Canadian stores as its final build-out.
It is getting close to 110, and no mention of a store on PEI. With 160,000 people on an island 150 miles long and 5-50 miles wide, who like to spend their money, I think it would do well. Obviously, they don't know the island shopper. I guess they have bigger fish to fry!
One note, the busiest Costco in the U.S. is located on an island, Oahu in Hawaii. With three large box stores here and gone, you would think there would be another chain to compete with Wal-Mart.

It would be fantastic location for a Costco with easy access for all of PEI and a great start to retail and multi-residential development already happening. I think I even saw an old APM plan one time showing the Costco behind Cordova's new apartment building that is going up.

It was originally planned to have Costco AND Walmart, but then Walmart built the store in their current location because royalty power centre hadn’t been built yet.

Smile

197 Minna Jane

The footings don't really match the rendering but there is a large underground parking area. It should have been higher.

A whole lot of people using every excuse in the book trying to stop people from living downtown. Charlottetown, the unkind city!
They have the as-of-right. The only way to stop the excuses is to issue the permit and get on with it!

West Royalty Suites

Here is a pana view of the Minna Jane project. The foundation is "L" shaped with a large square in the middle which I believe is part of the underground
parking. It should move into the next stage of the project seamlessly.
