Halifax Panoramas

I got a new camera tonight (Canon Powershot A2000IS)

And with the new camera I got a free photo stitching software.

Here are some I've put together from some older photos. I'll being adding more as I get to my favourite spots to take proper panoramic views.

All photos by me;

Halifax Peninsula from Eagle's Rock (Summer 2008):

Admiral's Cove (Winter 08/09):

EDIT: Please note the original pictures were not taken with photo stitching in mind. These were the ones that conveniently worked when put together.

Nice pics!
Where is Eagles Rock? Is it a park up there? It looks like a really cool place.

You'll have a nice view of Sheppard's from up there. (If it ever gets off the ground)

One of my other major passions other than development is Archaeology/Ancient History/Anthropology....and I think I recall reading some time ago, that there is a good deal of MicMac Petroglyphs up there on Eagle Rock. Have you ever heard of, or seen and of these DJ?...ohhh and those are some sweet pics...looks like a great view from up there

Yes it is a park. Its perfect for photographers, nature lovers or hikers. The simplest way to get there is from Snowy Owl Dr. There's a little cul-de-sac across from the mailboxes near Condor and well unfortunately the path is not marked but if you find someone who lives nearby they'll show you the way in (I've personally helped people through the park many times).

It's a gorgeous park and well I didn't mention this before but the picture from Admiral's Cove (in the first post) is actually part of the same park. Unfortunately the picture I really wanted didn't turn out but using the zoom on my camera I could count individual floors at Purdys Wharf.

I didn't know what the drawings were so I looked them up. The site is called the Bedford Barrens and unfortunately its on Bedford's other cliff area in Basinview somewheres. There might be other sites around maybe at Eagle's Rock but I personally haven't heard of any and I haven't noticed any in and around the cliff. I don't doubt your sources though. It wouldn't surprise me seeing how the nearby Sackville River was a native summer camp.

Thanks for the compliments you guys! I'll see if I can get back there soon to get the panoramas that didn't work today.

Some more from Eagles Rock

I went back into the park today for a couple of panoramas that didn't work out last time. So here they are. All photos by me;

Bedford Waterfront: Bedford South - Basinview

Clayton Park: Mount Royale U/C

Halifax Peninsula: At maximum zoom

BTW sorry about the strange lighting. The sun was starting to set so some of the pictures were darker then their neighbours.

Nice new pics. You don't get to see Halifax from this viewpoint very often. Do you have a higher res of the pano?

^Thanks

Unfortunately no. I have the settings to save it as the largest possible and it does appear bigger on my computer but Flickr makes it smaller for some reason when I upload it.

Apparently they have restrictions on Flickr for free accounts about image sizes.

Does anybody happen to know another site that might allow larger panoramas to be posted for free?

^That is a sweet picture "Helladog".

I really hope it dies down tomorrow. They've evacuated hundreds of people so far and its engulped some houses.

It is interesting to see such a large cloud of smoke in Spryfield all the way here in Bedford though.

That is a truly amazing picture. I could see something similar from my house last night.

Check out this video of the fire:

I was in Sackville yesterday and we could see the smoke from there.
