Apparently, both comminuties are getting a mass transit system. Selkirks is operating as iof June 1st, and Morden/Winkler might get one next year. Wonder what it's going to look like

Not sure if Selkirk getting one bus, which will run hourly 6 days a week, warrants a thread (or really qualifies as "mass" transit)... But, for those that are interested: http://www.cityofselkirk.com/assets/...draft%2013.pdf
Speaking of Modern/Winkler:
Has there been any talk of merging Modern and Winkler (along with Reinfeld and Schanzenfeld) into one city?
Modern and Winkler are about 10km apart.
Beaver bus lines already operates a commuter bus route between the 2 cities. Not just rush hour , but all day and into the evening.
Wonder if we can donate our older D40 and MCI vehicles to them when it comes time. That or give them to Selkirk for direct commuter service to Downtown Winnipeg (much like Strathcona County, AB or Airdrie, AB)

No, those buses are ready for the scrapper when we retire them.

See post # 6 above. This service has been in place for 50 years or more.
How much does it cost for Beaver Bus Lines? And if thats the case then, would they use shuttlevans or D35LFR's? I'd say EZ Riders from El Dorado, but Manitoba is pretty much an NFI province
Hope it goes off well. Would be good if it has a decent connection with Beaver to Winnipeg as well.
The transit service should transport alot of people if the two connect during rush hours. Wonder where a good connection point would be though (maybe a mini-transit terminal somewhere in central Selkirk would be best)
Do they have any transit at all? The twin towns of Schreiber and Terrace Bay (with a combined population of maybe 2,500) have a handi-transit van that connects both villages and occasionally makes a trip to Thunder Bay. Morden-Winkler could probably start with something like that.

The Morden/Winkler area is no doubt over 20,000. I would think they could use more than a handi-transit van. Winkler itself is bigger than Selkirk. I just don't know how much commuting there is between the two.

Winkler has all the retail, recreation and industrial facilities, plus the airport. In between the towns is the hospital, with a significant parking lot and with alot of medical appointments. Transit demand is definitely there for intercity travel, along with local Winkler service.
