The plans are for a large eight storey apartment building - a very nice looking one too!! I'll try to dig up the picture.

While I am generally super excited for this project, I do wish it was it was in a less suburban area. Downtown could really use a project of this magnitude.

Imagine a building with half the footprint and twice the height in downtown off of Downing Street. That would be 16 storeys! It would really add to the downtown skyline and would take the edge off of the phallic brutalism of Assomption Place.

I'd love to see something like this at the lot beside staples. Which we'll all be dust and bones by the time we see something there I'm sure.

By the time the Main Street RCMP station is vacated, hopefully the Covid situation will be behind us. Then a major project at the site would really enhance that end of the downtown. Like MonctonRad said, a smaller footprint with more height would nicely add to the city skyline.
The lot beside Staples? Who knows what the heck will happen there!

I did a little reconnoitre out to Lady Ada based on Philbilly's post:

This is absolutely an active construction site:
- There is construction fencing up with Rice Contracting signs mounted.
- Land preparation is well advanced. There is earth moving equipment on site.
- Construction trailers are waiting on a side street to be moved on to site.
- Those are definitely pieces of a tower crane lying on the ground, waiting to be installed.

This project is a go!!!

Between this, and the expected construction of the new mega Kent Building Supplies Warehouse Store on Moncton Street next to the TCH just a short distance away, this area will be very busy in 2021.............

I guess the tower crane waiting to be installed at Lady Ada is the one formerly at the Trans Aqua facility at Outhouse Point.

How many consecutive months/years has there been a tower crane in the city? It has been a really long time since there wasn’t one.

Yes, I believe it was at Horizon Place in Dieppe before the Trans Aqua site.

In tomorrow PAC review for Moncton, there is request by Super 8 for a variance so they can add a drive thru. Seems strange for a hotel

What's stranger is that it's a quality Inn not a super 8 unless it's changing branding 🤷

Also Hotel Moncton is apparently a super 8. Anyway the address or the map layout are incorrect? The overhead view says it's a motel 6. What the heck is happening haha

It used to be a Motel 6. Motel 6 is now on west main.

It's definitely a quality inn now. Was changed over in the past couple years. I'm guessing its just the label on the overhead shot that is wrong.

Cordova Realty has changed their name and is now known as Thrive Properties. Their website has been completely updated.

Their development in the western reaches of the Vision Lands is to be known as Mapleton Park Place. Their webpage on this project includes this very general site plan of the proposed development:

This sort of initial visioning exercise can be subject to all sorts of changes as the planning process carries on and matures, and as things naturally evolve with time. For example, the eight storey apartment building that they are building in behind the Four Points Hotel isn't really specified in this site plan, but at least you can get a broad idea for what they have in mind for this large piece of property.

It is interesting however that they have included a school near the centre of this development. I'm willing to bet anything that they are angling for the fifth anglophone high school for the metro area that the Anglophone East School Board wants to build within the next decade.
