^ Yeah, good point HX_Guy. I just checked all the aerial photos from Maricopa County and the best I can tell is that the warehouses were still there in 1959 and the lot looked the same as it does today in 1998.

How many years, this lot was parking? It's amazing how easy it is to demo a building, and how hard it is to actually build ANYTHING ELSE on the site.

yes, there is a parking garage down there. That's where I used to park when I worked at the Wyndham. It was full of bums every night when my shift at 11.

I was involved early on in this project during the previous design, which would have been great. It will still be a fantastic project for downtown Phoenix. There just won't be 77,000 cy of concrete poured anymore..

Request from the FAA for a 440' tower crane has been submitted for Central Park East and shows a schedule of 12/15/2007 to 10/01/2008. Of course there is quite a bit of work to do before a tower crane would go up...so they better get started soon.

Also, here is a night time image from this month's Phoenix Magazine.

440 foot crane...did the building grow taller than 26 stories, or this the normal height crane needed for this size project?

It seems normal. 44 Monroe's crane has a height of 438' and the building is 378' in height. Central Park East is supposed to be 383' in height.

Is OCPE taller than monroe? I thought Monroe was 32 stories and OCPE is 26? Why the height difference with respect to the sory height?

commercial buildings will always be taller due to increased floor to ceiling heights.

They will be roughly the same height (378' vs 383'), but office floors are much taller then residential floors, which is why 33 floors of 44 Monroe will be the same height as 26 floors of CPE.

short man's complex

no not me, for this building!

It is just disappointingly short to me when you consider that the first 8 stories aren't even office space at all. There's clearly a demand for class a downtown and tenants won't even be moving in for another year and a half. I would think at least another 10 stories would make this project more sensible. Though maybe it would have to be only 9 more with an additional level of parking. We need more like 100,000 workers downtown by 2020 to have a truly great downtown.

I think Cityscape is starting with 2 Towers..one being the hotel/condo tower at 510' and the second tower is pure office at around 380'...The next 2 towers are mixed use- and those heights are not set in stone ...but probably over 400' each...cityscape i feel will develop quickly....much more is on the way....downtown Phoenix is not suffering all that poorly from the housing market downturn......there is too much going on in the commercial sector
