Towers 1 - 3 are roughly the same size. The FT's roughly 2.6, T2 roughtly 2.8 (including retail), T3 roughtly 2.5. Even tower 4 is listed at a combined 2.3msf though probably only about 1.8msf of that is office.

Nice to see Silverstein's 900 footer in there.

BStyles - from another board - the reason the crane in the SW corner doesn't appear to move is that the steel over the tracks is being placed from midnight to 4 AM with the tracks de-energized. The diagonal beam that I thought had been placed during the morning actually was placed that previous night, in re-looking at the first picture I used to make the comparison observation, the beam was already there, it was just hard to see in the shadow.

Is back up just in time, seeing that Earthcam is pointing to a roof puddle, and "looking north" is a blue screen.

Cops stalling Ground Zero rebuild

By BRAD HAMILTON and REUVEN BLAU
September 27, 2009

Quote:
A nitpicking cop crackdown on concrete at Ground Zero is costing taxpayers millions and snarling construction at the already behind-schedule Freedom Tower and other structures at the site, cement suppliers say.

Cops harass their mixing trucks with inspections that take so long, the concrete starts to harden and can't be used, the firms say....

"I built Trump World Tower, which is 92 stories, in 18 months," said Donald Trump. "I've done four floors in a week. What's happening at the Freedom Tower is a terrible situation."

I wish I could describe to everyone how large this crane is. I mean, the photos clearly make it look big, but it somehow feels even larger in person. I've walked by it quite a bit in the last week, and every time I'm awestruck.

Nah, I think Dubai is crane heaven, this is more like the staircase leading to it.

The earthcam is overseeing the memorial construction, but it's main purpose is the construction at Ground Zero. Too bad though, it's not actually overseeing anything right now.

Anyone know what the black and red material is? , the black looks like pavement, but appears that they are painting the material down, so I would not think it is pavement. Photo is from rebuildgroundzero, today around 15:30EST.

I'm going to go out on a very short, thick limb and say it's water proofing. Probably means we well see Fulton St. at finish grade this year.

OK, the pic NYguy posted shows the black/red stuff more clearly and it sure looks like the water proofing system shown on the prints.

The Donald didn't have to dig out seven stories of debris and rebuild a gazillion rail lines, first.

Minutia: anyone have a notion as to what that cylindrical tent-like structure is, in the north pool, and what it's for? Merely curious.

did someone read how much the cement workers earn? if not, here's the answer: 70$ an hour!

Quote:
"One day you have 300 union guys waiting on a deck to pour concrete," said a cement company executive. "They're all making $70 an hour and now they're all just standing around. Do you know how expensive that is?"

Factor in the cost of living in NYC, taxes, and union dues and it's probably not as lucrative as you think. Not to mention it's back breaking work.

I wasn't taking a swipe at unions or NYC. I was serious. Working on these buildings would be a privilege, but I think I'll just have to settle and live next to them in a few years when I have the $$$.
