So we are gonna have more than 10 buildings, over 200 meters u/c soon. The funny thing is that while there are always 7 or 8 towers minimum u/c over 200 meters at any one time in this country at least over the past 8 years or so, the completions per year usually only number 1, 2 or 3.

I think this year we only have 2 completions over 200 meters.

Will be so nice when we get to 5-10 200 meter tower completions per year. For that to happen there will have to be 15 to 20 200 meter towers under construction at any one time.

Will need 25 to 50 towers under construction at any given time to consistently post completions of 5 to 10 per year based on 5 years for construction.

2016 ... 0
2015 ... 3 TTT

2014 ... 2 TT
2013 ... 0
2012 ... 4 CTTT
2011 ... 2 CT
2010 ... 0
2009 ... 1 T
2008 ... 1 (Vancouver's first)

1992 ... 3 MMT (Montreal's first)
1991 ... 0
1990 ... 1 T
1989 ... 0

2016 - nothing? Yikes....

Montreal had the head start in this game with 3 towers. Based on my understanding they have only added one more to that list since the 1960's.

2011/2012 - Ritz-Toronto, Shangrila-Toronto, Trump Toronto, The Bow, EAP 1. I don't remember the order of completion and I am forgetting one tower.

Messed up a little. Wasn't looking at the heights. The database included antennas. Montreal's only two came in 1992.

I always thought PVM was over 200 meters. Guess I was wrong on that count then.

On the bright side I am look forward to having 12, 13 or even 14 towers +200 meters u/c at the same time across the country.

4 More years and Edmonton gets its first tower over 200 meters, and Canada has 4 cities with towers over 200 meters! ( with an honourable mention to Vancouver right at the level) could be 5. Crazy height and density is coming, we will not recognize our home cities 5 years from now.

2018 - Toronto will breach 20 towers over 200 meters! (21 to be exact)

Cool Fact - 2014-2018 Toronto will have built /completed an equal number of 200 meter towers to the preceeding 42 years inclusive from 1972 to 2013. (10 towers)

Similar thing for Calgary. We had one 200 meter tower from 1984 until the Bow was finished, and in a couple of years we will have two more.....not to mention EAP which is a hair under 200 meters.

Calgary will have two 200+ meter towers completed in 2018, not one. It will be CCET (Edmonton's first and Calgary's first year with two at once) if all goes according to schedule, which so far it is.

EDIT: Actually, both Telus Sky and Brookfield Place's targeted completion dates are in 2017, so 2017 could very well be Canada's first year ever completing six 200+ meter towers at once at CCTTTT.

They are best guesses. All of them. Good enough to show we are a long ways away from averaging five to ten towers per year.

you really think they will be able to dig out 6 basement levels, build 66 plus levels and, install the interior finishes in 36 months? Don't see Telus Sky with a 2017 completion unless they drop or reduce the rental portion of the project.

Well, One Bloor started in July 2011and so far its up 37 floors, still another 38 floors to go.

To be honest, I think it might take another 2 years to finish, we could be looking at a 2017 end date which would mean start to finish almost or more than 6 years to complete.

July 2011 -? 2017 (One Bloor East)

It is,
I think Surreal might be confusing EAP with the Bankers Hall twins which are 197m.
