This one seems to be built quite differently from most other buildings around here. There appears to be an internal metal skeleton rather than concrete columns, and the walls come as prefabricated segments with metal joists. Would anyone here know what the advantages are? Could something like this be used in single-unit residential construction, or are the costs prohibitive compared to ordinary wood framing?

I hear people (students) are moving in to this building this weekend even though there is a lot of interior and exterior work still remaining.
