I believe it is (looking at a Google satellite view), but I'm not sure how often it has been used or what kind of condition the line would be in.

I don't think it's been used for some time:

Parker Road, in the park

Where it joins the main line near Moncton

You can see it's pretty overgrown and actually disconnected near the highway.

Correct, although they can revitalize that very easily and reconnect it. It's a very common railroad policy, that if a line is not being used to disconnect it and let it go, otherwise they must keep it up by maintaining it and with no traffic it's just a money pit. If there is a good reason to rejuvenate it and reconnect it, like a major customer, like a scrap yard, then they would.

That abandon rail line is currently being reconstructed as a bike lane as part of a Moncton to Parlee Beach bike trail. Anticipated completion date 2025. CBC News article here: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/new-b...cton-1.6936835

That's not the line that we're referring too. That bike path is from Scoudouc to Shediac, we're talking about a line from Moncton to Scoudouc. I heard that they were looking at it to put it back in service earlier this year. That could be a rumor though, I guarantee you though that the line is still there, it has not been torn out.

Neptune Drive-in Theatre is apparently reopening this year under new ownership.

I've always had a soft spot for drive-ins, even though I haven't been to one in about 50 years. I should go again this summer, purely for nostalgia.

I noticed yesterday that the lot next to the solar farm in Shediac off Lino road has a sold sign on it. I wonder if this could be the location for the new school?
I still can't find any indication of where it is going yet but the rumor is they are going to start building in the spring.

This just popped up on the CCD Canada website:

Quote:
NB - SHEDIAC
ST-HUBERT, SHEDIAC
[FLOORING] [FIRE ALARM / SAFETY] [PAINTING] \ RESTAURANT RENOVATION
$612,000
Is there a St. Hubert coming to Shediac???

Could this be a St. Hubert Express???

The land beside solar farm on lino rd was purchased by the town of Shediac for nature park connecting Association Plein Air Shediac Outdoors Association inc. (APASOA) network of trails. The location of the school there's been some indication for more than few months now. Take drive on ohio rd toward highway 15 slow down after camping oceanic look for red ribbons and one clear cut line of trees up you actually able to see camper's since at least November. Basically almost across road was previously Rainville propane location the land was recently sold rumors is superstore. For st Hubert I have no idea but I have noticed the banner for st Louis bar grille coming soon been removed on Main st for few months now maybe its now replace by st hubert.

Shediac building permits top $105M in 2023

As a result of the amalgamation in 2023, the municipality’s population grew to over 11,000, and its territory expanded to include Scoudouc, Scoudouc Road, Shediac Cape and Pointe-du-Chêne. The Pointe-du-Chêne Wharf, Parlee Beach, cottage communities and campgrounds are important tourist destinations that bring thousands of visitors during the summer season.

“The provincial government is expected to announce the location of the new K-12 English school in Shediac in the near future,” Danny Pellerin, Shediac’s director of economic development and tourism, said in the news release. “In addition, construction continues in rapidly developing subdivisions such as Domaine Beauséjour and Domaine des Faisans.”

Pellerin said a 139,000 square foot refrigerated warehouse project is also planned for the Scoudouc Industrial Park.
At 11,000 people, it is time for Shediac to start thinking about city status at some point in the next 10 years or so.

Summerside became a city in 1995 with about 14500 people, so it’s not that much of a stretch that Shediac could become NB’s newest city.

We already have 8 cities which is ridiculous for such a small province. Shediac should remain a town despite the population growth

Saskatchewan has 10 already and they're population isn't a whole lot more than ours, I don't see what the problem is.

I think Shediac will remain a town similar to Riverview (which is larger than some cities in New Brunswick). On that note, Shediac is fast approaching the population of Bathurst and will probably overtake it soon.

Very interesting. Yet another indication Shediac is approaching city status.

if you're referring to 'Los 14 Incas' Peruvian "tavern" , save your money.

Filthy interior. Zero accountability. 2 staff members. a "red room."

bad for the town.

if you're referring to somewhere else, do tell!

The heck is a red room? It seems to be more of a dance club than anything else
