[QUOTE=Wattleigh;3170716]I figured I'd pitch in a few random photos, taken recently.
The Med Center from across Lake McGovern in Hermann Park
The building with the interesting top is great. There's nothing even close to this type of archicture in Tampa. We have the most abysmal skyline. The more I see on this thread, the more I appreciate Houston. It is clear this city has a much stronger sense of self than I ever would've given it credit. To be honest, to me, Texas was just a vast, open plain out West. I have never been there, except once when I changed planes in Houston. But I'm seeing a depth to the metropolis that is impressive. I don't know why Tampa can't be more urban. There just is absolutely no archicture here. All the buildings are dull, mindless exercises in post-modern crap at best, and meaningless vernacular at worst. Maybe it's a Florida thing. Maybe it's because Tampa is so very small compared to Houston. Maybe it will just take more time and history to happen here.
