It also looks like they've reached the 33rd street retaining wall (the gray concrete wall on the left, center). So I assume they'll be able to DRIVE equipment onto the platform from 33rd street in the next few months.

A marvel of modern (or not-so-modern, if you think about it) engineering rising before our very eyes.

I think they've started calling it 'neo-modern' (if you're referring to the architectural style, that is)

Together with the retail, this building would account for nearly 3.5 msf, making it one of the largest in the city, but with a very low FAR of 6. That's because of the footprint and the vastness of the railyard development, which includes a lot of open space, which pushes the towers upward.

These must be very tall floors 1269ft - 68 storeys = 18+ ft floors (seems wrong)
The thread title reads 1287ft - 92 storeys = 14 ft floors

They're calling it "92", same as all of the other office and now supertall residential buildings going up because of how high it is. It has more to do with height than actual number of floors.

DOB floors however must account for actual floors.

Depending on how you count, that's pretty accurate.

Here's an earlier version of the design, accounting for 64 floors...

I think that 6FAR is kind of deceptive, because the 570000 sq ft of the lot is for the entire eastern yards, where there will be other buildings. There is the 1,7 million sq ft 10 HY plus the residential buildings and the culture sheed that could add about 3,5 million square ft more, for a total for the eastern yards of some 7 million sq. ft, making the real FAR for the entire complex about 12.

That's what I'm saying. The Far is for the "block" which includes lots of open space. That's why the towers are as tall as they are. The FAR is for the railyards. BTW, some of the development rights for the rest of the towers along Hudson Boulevard will come from the railyard site itself.

This is the way it originally worked out...

The DOB says 1269 feet, is there an architectural element? Is that old?

Not that 18 feet really matters but just wondering...

3.5 msf is just huge though! This will have a massive impact.

It will be intersting to see it rise from the NE corner of RR yards. Feb 6th? photo below is from the HY NY FB site and shows that they have built at tleast a portion of the steel under-decking to the west of the 30HY site. That platform will be used for actual 30Hy construction equipment & whatnot:

It's a matter of time before that colossal postal facility, which encompasses, two full blocks is razed. The USPS could use the money.

I wouldn't count on that happening, for various reasons. But if it ever does, it'll be after the Javits is demolished, and that site built over with skyscrapers and reintroduced into the grid.

The DOB permit filing is at 1,287 ft. That number shown above could reflect an alteration, or not. Whatever the case, it's not confirmed that either number would be the actual final height (to tip) of the tower.

So you are saying this building can still be either taller, or shorter?
