This project doesn't give me much confidence for Trinity Centre at Bayview. Rideau is not too bad, but if they screw up Bayview, that will leave a permanent scar on Ottawa's skyline.

The abundance of black/charcoal brick we see on nearly every current project makes me irationaly angry.

Managed to find an angle that includes 4 (almost 5) of the buildings under construction on Rideau. Taken from the top floor of Simons.

I was on Rideau yesterday en route the la Belle Province and I couldn't believe the disgusting amount of truck traffic these days. I know a bunch of it is for these construction projects but a lot seemed to be just general cross-border traffic. Make Kettle Island bridge happen now!

Well... this one is quickly turning into my most hated building of the modern era in this city. It takes the nasty institutional look of 1960 Scott and amps it up about 10 notches. Tiny looking windows, blank walls, bleak looking materials, odd massing....I like NOTHING about this. The scary thing is half the buildings being built in this city right now are cut and paste variations of this one. Roderick Lazy Strikes Again!!!

I fail to see what's wrong with this building. Building glass towers in a continental climate like Ottawa's is a massive waste of energy, heating and air conditioning.

Black brick in our climate is also not good. It only accentuates the heat island effect and raises the a/c requirements.

I actually dont hate this building either. Could it look better yes, if this was a condo tower would it look better, probably. but for a rental tower im just happy it brings a LOT of density and I quite like the store front retail. At ground level its a very nice and appreciated addition to a part of Rideau that really needs it.

The building on its own is meh... Not the best but not the worst either. I like the height and density it brings to this end of Rideau and the fact it replaced an empty open lot.

What annoys me the most is they came out promising this beautiful design, then gave us that

I think the street interaction in that looks way worse than what they're building. Not human scaled at all.

Think the scale is fine on this one. Not pretty but a step-up from, say, what's across the street.

Buildings without glass curtain walls don't have to look like garbage because of the climate. Look at the amazing variety of designs and materials being constructed in Mississauga. Surely our Nation's Capital deserves at least the same standards as a bedroom community outside of Toronto...

Really!?!? A monolithic featureless black box with tiny windows on top of a non-descript low slung metal clad entrance that is flush to the lot line with no columns or arcade? I think this building is shaping up to have some of the worst street interaction of any new building in the city.

I've given up any hope for architecture urbanism in Ottawa... at this point, far flung Soviet communist blocks have more appeal...
