Yeah, we have a pretty decent skyline for a "common city" of 68,000 (metro 127,000)

For some reason I thought there was a lookout atop the "leaning tower of Moncton" but there obviously isn't. Did there used to be one?

Nice photos. Moncton is not looking too bad; more impressive than I was anticipating.

The tower (Aliant Tower) is 127 m (416ft) tall and used for telecommunications. There was talk of it being used for observation a while back but a year or so ago Aliant came out publically and said they have no plans for it. There is only a small metal service staircase, which is quite difficult to go up apparently. My friend has gone up it before when he worked for Aliant...said the view was amazing...its too bad really.

Heres a better pic of it:

And thanks Jibba, coming from someone who lives in Chicago that means a lot

Quite a good photo essay

Nice to see it is still called the "Subway" and that the term is not a figment of my imagination from 35 years ago!

Too bad CN does not paint the subway pink and let people paint murals on the panels any more. I still think that was one of the best civic ideas I've ever seen.

Last time I was in Moncton Floral Avenue still had greenhouses, Champlain mall had just been built and the Tower was only a few years old. Big pile o'sawdust west side of The Marsh, too.

Thanks for the comment TMA, sorry I didnt reply sooner haha...yeah I have heard that CN used to allow people to paint on the train bridge in the past however I never saw it myself. Its too bad, I think that would be really nice, right now its solid grey and has to be repainted every year because its a graffiti magnet. Everyone knows that people are much less likely to graffiti over a mural than a blank wall, so I think they should bring it back.

Moncton has changed a lot since the 70's, you should really come for a visit!

Moncton looks vibrant. I like how you did different stuff - architectural angles, focuses, and street stuff. Good work! I especially like "grunge".

Moncton has the most things to do and is in the most advantageous location of any city its size in canada...I've been pretty well everywhere in canada

Thanks for the comments guys!

Now that spring has begun I need to get out soon and do another tour! I have this autumn one and I did a winter one as well, but now a fun spring thread is in order...also it will be the first tour with my new camera (which I used for my recent NYC photo thread.)

Can't believe I didn't comment on this yet (maybe that was in the Atlantic section).
Nicely done mmmatt! And yes, you do need to get out and do a spring phototour!
