Also, the final height is to be 93 stories, and 1036 feet.

Quote:
Building Height: The approved MUSP design had a height of 1,060 feet 8 inches. Phase II proposes a reduction of 24 feet 8 inches from the tower to a maximum height of 1,036 feet in 93 stories. Miami zoning permits an unlimited maximum bonus height for this property, subject to Federal Aviation Administration regulations.

Of all the numerous super tall buildings that Miami seemingly can't get off the ground, the one that might have a chance of getting built is a not very good looking building. The stacked boxes style does not look good in Miami's skyline at all.

I might be in the minority who think this tower is pretty good.

Agreed but it's kinda unique in its own way. It's a supertall in Miami at the end of the day which is awesome, and hopefully other better looking ones will follow

Hate it! Not right for Miami. A curvy building like NY's One 57 or Gehry, or like Chicago's Aqua is much more Miami's style than stacked boxes.

Give it a rest, its over 1000ft, and that's all that matters. I dont care if it is stacked boxes, curved or spired, its a supertall.

It was unique when Moscow did it with the City of Capitals in 2009. Then Austin gave it a go with The Independent and now this. A tall building should at least be designed well if not inoffensive. This is ugly and lacking any sort of cohesiveness.

But yay supertall in Miami. Dancing bananas and whatnot.

Miami has a lot of shitty architecture. This will be one of the better looking buildings in the city. I don’t understand the hate or why Miami should copy wavy buildings from other city. Truth is any other city in America would love this structure to be built in their town.

Haters gonna hate, Miami. Do your thing!

I don't see this as ugly, I'm actually impressed that it isn't filled with balconies and cheap stucco. It's unique, and it's something different in the sea of highrises in Miami.

One of the unit renderings that looks like it is one of the units below a box. Doesn't look so bad to me:

The slopped glass makes me think this is located in the base massing so this is probably a building amenity rendering. I'm also thinking why the heck they sloped glass on the base in the first place. It doesn't fit the rest of the building and does absolutely nothing for the interiors. I mean there's a freaking guard rail so you don't fall onto the horizontal glass elements. This is so wonky.

100-Story Waldorf Astoria Announces It Will Break Ground This Quarter, Now 72% Sold

100-Story Waldorf Astoria Announces It Will Break Ground This Quarter, Now 72% Sold

The 100-story Waldorf Astoria tower planned in downtown Miami has reached 72% sold and will break ground this quarter, its developers announced today.

It will become Florid’a first ever supertall, with a height of 1,049 feet above Biscayne Bay.

It took just 9 months to reach the 72% sold milestone.

“Miami is booming and quickly entering a new development cycle, and we are thrilled to be part of the Waldorf Astoria Miami’s legacy, which will forever transform the city’s skyline,” said Ryan Shear, Managing Partner at developer PMG.

The Waldorf’s developers say that 55% of buyers are domestic, specifically from the Northeast, California and South Florida, and 45% of buyers coming from outside of the United States.

The top international markets include Mexico, Russia, Colombia and Turkey.

The tower will include 360 condos, and 205 five-star hotel keys. There will also be amenity, restaurant, and ballroom space.

Groundbreaking for the supertall Waldorf tower is scheduled for Q1 of 2022, with completion in 2026.

Snipit from article:
Demolition began yesterday in downtown Miami on the site where the 100-story Waldorf Astoria Hotel & Residences is planned to begin rising soon.

It is the first site work activity on the property where Miami’s first-ever supertall tower is planned to be built.....

The building with all the AC units on top needs to come down too, so they still have some work to do.
