I made two trips out west over the last two years, there was some overlap. this is a collection of all the fun. check out part two which i'll post after this smoke break, its of the NW and a rodeo!

Good job on the pics!

DSC 5142... Blends the rehabbed and improved buildings on Spring and 6th with the untouched potential rehabs on Broadway and 6th.. half a block but a world of a difference..

Good stuff. LA looks good. That beach is weird. Kind of ominous, no?

Great photos! Why is it that LA has such a bad rap in America but all the photo tours I've seen of it make it look like a pretty compelling place?

Because people think LA is just what they see in movies unfortunately

I was thinking about this after seeing the movie Nightcrawler which managed to portray the city in a pretty seedy, albeit exciting light.

i'm still sad about it not being operations when i was there. Pretty sure its just repairs, and maybe, by now, its up and running again.

Not yet unfortunately. There was an accident a couple years back and they still havent received approval to start up again.

Great pics Pope! Chef: To answer your question what city with 15 million plus metro isn't compelling? I'm sure even Dhaka has something to offer to us urban enthusiasts! I think LA's "bad rap" is a holdover from the 80's to mid 90's it is a big American city so it has lots of nice areas and some that are banal. Also remember that photo threads from great photographers such as DTLA Denizen, King of the Hill, PWright, and Kelbeen give you a super positive reflection of a city it is basically like LA's "glamour shots".

Not taking anything away from LA, I would say the same thing if a dope photog was repping SD but unfortunately we have no one down here doing that.

San O has been closed for a few years now. Nice surf spot.
