Where in Shanghai are most of these pavilions located anyway? I know the Bund will have a hand full but I would like to know this district's location as well.

The US entry is of course a bland corporate structure that resembles a shopping center. The design is as stale and dated as the country itself is becoming.

Design highlight- they made its shape in plan view conceptually resemble an 'eagle'... lolz... I think a high school drafting student designed the project, but I could be mistaken. (lol j/k)

It's also behind schedule. At one point, it appeared that the US would be a no-show, because the US organizers had a terrible time raising construction funding from sponsors (the govt contributed nothing. It's purely corporate interests representing the American people).

If I was a kid, I would be all over the Dutch 'Joy Street' pavilion. I bet the kids are going to love the meandering 'treehouse' type design of it.

I'm not sure what to make of these...I do sort of enjoy the South Korean and Dutch pavilions but for the most part these almost seem like a jokey, satirical pastiche of trends in contemporary architecture. The American entry is also about as pathetic as anyone could've imagined.

On the bright side, the UK pavilion is just out of this world. It looks like a visitor from a higher dimension!

This goes back to the Gingrich era, when Congress passed a short-sighted law forbidding any Federal funding for expo pavilions.

Really.

Secretary of State Clinton made the push for private investment, which is how the pavilion got cobbled together at the 12th hour. But no, the pavilion doesn't at all represent America's social & creative dynamism.

This will be the first great Expo since Expo '70 in Osaka. I can't get enough of these pavilions! - I'm like a kid in a candy shop, looking at these things.

China's entry reminds me of the Canadian Pavilion at Expo '67 (perhaps the greatest of the 20th-century fairs):
