Lunenburg, NS, about an hour west of Halifax. The town itself has UNESCO Heritage designation and is the home of the original Bluenose schooner as well as the Highliner seafood corp, and was originally settled by early Protestants from the Alps (as was, ironically, Dutch Village in Halifax); Peggy's Cove, Chester, Mahone Bay, and Kejimkujik National Park are in this same section of the Province, which boasts excellent sailing conditions as well as a decent surfing beach, and is the main part of the province with resort communities that cater towards those activities/lifestyles. The Pictou-New Glasgow area (which faces PEI) is similar in a lot of ways but is historically much more Scottish, its beaches more sheltered and its summer accommodations more rustic.

While not really thought of as a farming region, cranberries and blueberries are major local crops and are also found abundantly in the wild, as is wintergreen. Compared to the rest of NS there is a notable absence of Acadian, Scottish, and (pre-Confederation) African-NS influences/demographics in this part of the province, and the landscape is very "typically Nova Scotian", lacking the mountains of Cape Breton and the North-central parts of the province, the dykelands of the Valley, the Fundy tides or the red sands of the NB- and PEI-facing areas. This is the main part of the province with sailing and surf resort communities, and the surrounding area includes Peggy's Cove, Chester, Mahone Bay, and Kejim'kujik Nat'l Park, which has strict regulations protecting it from light pollution.
The town of Lunenburg itself is far removed from the freeway network - the main highway-oriented town in Lunenburg County is (inland, river-oriented) Bridgewater, which doesn't have a reputation for being touristy or charming (tbh I've never heard anything positive about it) but is
pretty decent all things considered, with a look and overall vibe similar to the main towns/cities in the Kootenays (except without the mountains) - many of which were first settled by people from the same parts of Europe.
