Twin Cities | 2021 - 2023

These photos have been sitting on my computer for a while. I figure I should post them.

I'm super happy you decided to post them. Minny is such a cool city. I'd love to visit in the future.

Minneapolis - St Paul are the original Twin Cities in the US. The metro has been called that since the late 19th century.

I like all the color in this one.

I'd have never guessed Minneapolis has rowhouses like these and these. Are they common?

Great to see! Almost went to Minneapolis on a work trip late last summer but it was canceled. Then I almost went for work 2 weeks ago but didn't. At some point I actually want to visit!

There aren't a huge number but they are around. The first photo is from Elliot Park which is the last remnant of the old residential part of downtown. In 1900 Minneapolis had around 200,000 people with almost everybody living in what is now downtown. It was a much denser city than what exists now. Most of it was torn down to build the modern downtown but there are bits and pieces of it that are still left. Most of the inner residential neighborhoods now are actually the suburbs of that older version of the city that no longer exists.

Nice streetscape shots. I spent the night in Minneapolis in a snowy March 2001 on a road trip, I really liked it. Just had a nice feel.

IMO the neighborhoods beyond downtown are more compelling than downtown, which is kind of sterile, especially these days.
