Moncton Sunset by André Audet, on Flickr

Found this impressive photo on Andre Audet's Flickr photostream - very impressive.

The Moncton skyline is due for a major upgrade over the next 10-15 years.

To the left of the panorama, you can see a large tower crane. This is for the 20 Record Street development which will see three separate 15 storey apartment buildings erected over the next six years. Tower one is under construction now.

Construction will start next year on St. Bernard Square, a 12 storey apartment building towards the right of the Bell Aliant Tower, located in behind FiveFive Queen (the blackish building in the middle foreground).

Ashford Developments has amassed all the land to the south of the Assumption Place office tower in the centre of the image. They are working with the city government on a major urban renewal project which will span about 15 years or so, and will see the construction of six new mixed use and residential buildings between Assumption Place and the riverfront, ranging from 10-18 storeys in height.

Between these, and other more modest projects (mostly in the downtown west end), the skyline of Moncton by 2035 will be virtually unrecognizable.

That's a great picture. I kinda wish the panorama had gone a bit farther east where it could pick up the (now growing) Dieppe skyline too.

Well, except for the Bell Aliant tower. I suspect that will be a defining feature for some time.

I always kind of liked the Bell Aliant Tower (Let's just call it the Bell Tower as it sounds cooler lol). It has a sort of late 20th century high-tech vibe. But not just high tech, but a sort of cold institutionalism. I guess you could call it a sort of retro-futurism although that wasn't really that long ago lol.

That's the prettiest Moncton skyline picture I've seen. Love it.

Probably the biggest change over the past decade hasn't been to downtown Kitchener but rather its suburbs, especially towards Roseville.

I noticed there's a tall tower in the middle of nowhere north end of Simcoe St, Oshawa under construction.
Indeed. Oshawa's new tallest is in the middle of nowhere.

I can’t wait until those parking lots where the Earls, Union Station, and The Forks are get redeveloped. Hopefully with at least the same standard of aesthetic as 300 Main to contrast the brutalist and modernist currently present. Hell maybe we can introduce “green” architecture in that area to make the streetscape appear more pleasant.

Love the picture though.

Yeah, I posted it mainly because it's a different skyline view of Winnipeg than what we are accustomed to seeing here. It's taken from the top of the Canadian Museum of Human Rights.

The foreground of that view will probably change significantly over the next decade.

^ Very reminiscent of Moncton and Fredericton from those angles.

That's a nice compliment since these are way larger places! We also have a ''taller'' tower sort of akin to Assumption Place, obviously in more modest proportions.

Kitchener by me:

Kitchener Skyline by Matt, on Flickr

We have 25 buildings proposed, approved, or u/c that would have been a new tallest just 3 years ago. Not all are even downtown, with many popping up near LRT stations.

It's always tricky to capture the skyline at an angle that shows most of the significant buildings. Eventually it will be impossible as more proposals are being approved along the King Street spine from Ottawa Street through midtown, to Waterloo.

It would be interesting to see the DTK skyline from the north or the south, although I can't think of anywhere outdoors where you would have such a perspective.

Halifax could have a really cool skyline in the future. Waterfront skylines always look the best. I hope they continue to build up.

Does Oshawa have a skyline? I have never seen a photo posted.

Edit: I found this. Looks like it is really out of date. Rather wretched.

Posts a 50 year old photo and then comments on how "wretched" the place he has never been to is.
