Houston based Hines moving forward on 39-story - 622 ft. skyscraper at 415 20th Street in Downtown Oakland
Hines is in the process of completing their environmental impact report for the first true skyscraper to be built in downtown Oakland.
The majority of international organisations, such as the CTBUH and Emporis, define a skyscraper as a building that reaches or exceeds the height of 150 metres.or 492 feet.
Hines acquired the property at 415 20th Street for $36 million in June, 2019 or roughly $434 per square foot, according to sources with direct knowledge of the transaction. The seller of the property was the University of California Regents who viewed the property as excess corporate real estate. The public entity will be moving into the new office building, The Key at 12th which is currently under construction in downtown Oakland in the near future.
