If there is there is, if there isn't then there isn't.

I think there are a couple of sub-par ones that might not stick around long, but at the rate the city is changing and growing I expect we'll see quite a few more pop up in the next few years. The standard has seriously gone up in the last 3 years or so.

There's a huge Indian population in the GMA especially in the last few years. Every fast food place, pizza place, etc has Indian workers. I'm sure there's room for a few more especially if this one is a bistro style one.

As part of the copious documentation available for the approval process of Eastgate Village is included this snippet regarding Eastgate Academy

Quote:
Eastgate Academy, Moncton’s first (private) kindergarten to grade 7 school, is modelled after the International Baccalaureate Programme.

Focusing on balancing academic and intellectual growth with physical and mental well-being, the academy offers a tailored learning experience to every student.

The private school will develop a15(+/) acre campus within close proximity to the Irishtown Park (for programmatic and character purposes). Through placement, architectural and landscape character, and academic programming, the facility is located contextually similar to the Rothesay Netherwood School’s relationship to the City of Saint John. Residents should feel a sense of ‘non-urban campus in nature’ when visiting Eastgate Academy and should have a sense that students experience this character as a significant component of their academic life.

By name and by location, the academy is central to Eastgate Village. The school’s board of directors desires a location within Moncton and within close proximity of a vast nature-based park where the context supports environmental appreciation and stewardship. Additionally, the board seeks to create an appropriate gateway experience. The Eastgate Academy is not a roadside academic facility. Instead, it is a school set well within its site, with street and entry lanes designed to enhance the visiting experience through careful street and planting design.

Eastgate Academy private school.

The new francophone K-8 school nearing completion off of McLaughlin is apparently going to be named Ecole Claudette Bradshaw

Good choice IMHO.

The signage is now up on the side of the new Walmart distribution centre. It appears they are putting a furious push on to complete construction before the snow flies.

Also, there is a Newco Construction sign up on Commerce Street in the Caledonia Industrial Park, just to the east of the Fed Ex ground terminal building, and, there appears to be initial site prep going on (topsoil scraped off and excavators on site). Anyone have any ideas???

This is proposed for 85 Caledonia Road in the Caledonia Industrial Park (adjacent to the westbound exit ramp from the TCH):

Comztar is also preleasing for this, on the extreme eastern end of Frenette, near the intersection with Commerce Street.

Both the Eastgate and Vineyard subdivision proposals were voted down by PAC.

I believe the public hearings will still occur. The final decision is up to city council. There is some public opposition, and no support from the planning department. I don't think these proposals will proceed.

Developer Preps For First Of Three New Moncton Apartment Buildings
SAM MACDONALD, Huddle News

Quote:
The one building, consisting of two distinct structures that connect to one another, Michaud plans to build on Highlandview is the first of six two-wing podium-shaped apartment buildings Michaud wants to build in the area near the Lewisville Middle School.
At full build-out, the project will see 96 new rental units added to the city's inventory. Construction may begin in the fall of 2023.

6-5 for both proposals.

Can't exactly let a golf course community and a new retail centre appear out past the urban growth boundary and expect no more suburbs to appear out there.

Precisely.

And the largest mini home community in the metro area and Moncton friggin' High School.

To deny these two subdivisions purely on principle when so much already exists out there would be nonsensical.

The only argument that carries weight is really the cost to service these two developments, but the city could always come up with a development charge area to pass the costs onto the developers.

And;

The city is growing out that way anyway, eventually they will have to extend the services out there, so it would be cheaper to do it now. I know they want more development on the vision lands, however, the interest is not there so go where the interest is..

That's The Vineyard no? They are developing on 39 acres so it would make more sense.
