This looks a little different to me, but it's probably just the rendering...

Yep, the renderings are pretty close to what it will be.....The glass has a degradating dot pattern at each floor which eminates away from the slab edge. There is very little true spandrel on the facade at the slabs....

I'm a senior designer working for a curtain wall design consultant that has been contracted to provide the engineering for the curtain wall for this project. This includes the structural calculations, shop drawings, 3D modeling and fabrication drawings. I have been working on a 3D model of the overall structure and curtain wall cladding for the last 9 months. I have some images and animations I would like to share.

These are images from about 2 months ago. Most of the cladding detail has been turned off.

Here is an interesting animation I created from the 3D model about 5 months ago:

Thanks so much for those Gary! They really provide insight to the overall shape of the tower!

It looks as if they took one of the sections from 200G and married it to the basic form of BofA, the result being a few little add-ons to either side. The concavity towards the base seems to flaunt an aesthetic function that mystifies me just a bit.

Otherwise, given my druthers of course, multiply the height by two and badda bing...as it were.

This is a special design for NYC, you don't see such a flamboyant building like this everyday in generally design conservative NYC. The fact that it is mid rise helps bring the design close to the pedestrian who will really be able to appreciate it.

What I like is the shard-like city of glass appearance that the entire ensemble of sections and facades conveys. Almost neo-gotham.

You are correct in both cases!

Thanks for the kind complements everyone! I have worked on this model for at least 2000 hours and it's nice to be appreciated!

Wow, it's incredible how intricate the glazing gets at the corners.

You know, with that bulk stretched to twice the height (it could use a diet), this could be a tower that rivals the Tower Verre in greatness for New York. It's still an iconic design.

The best towers are always the shortest ones, so it seems. That's why Tower Verre is so important for the skyline.

Btw great models!

Gary,

Nice work on the modeling! But then again I have already seen a lot of these already !!! Can't wait to get the frames onsite to start installing them. Seeing how SOTA fabbed them for the mock-up and how they fit gives a lot of confidence that they will do the same on the main project.
