0-24 meters (1-5 floors) = Grade Level
25-49 meters (5-10 floors) = Lowrise
50-99 meters (10-20 floors) = Midrise

--Class 2 (100-199 meters): "Centi Class"

100-149 meters (20-30 floors) = Highrise (ex. New Yorker Hotel)
150-199 meters (30-40 floors) = Skyscraper (ex. Waldorf-Astoria)

--Class 3 (200-399 meters): "Diacosia Class"

200-299 meters (40-60 floors) = Pretertall (ex. 30 Rockefeller)
300-399 meters (60-80 floors) = Supertall (ex. Chrysler Building)

--Class 4 (400-799 meters): "Tetracosia Class"

400-599 meters (80-120 floors) = Tetratall (ex. 1WTC)
600-799 meters (120-160 stories) = Hexatall (ex. Shanghai Tower)

--Class 5 (800-1599 meters): "Octacosia Class"

800-999 (160-200 stories) = Octotall (ex. Burj Khalifa)
1000-1599 (200-320 stories) = Kilotall (ex. Kingdom Tower)

I would still think of 20 story buildings as a high rise. Now, ones lower than that and I consider them midrises. Truly short ones, say, 5 to 8 or so still have to fit in somewhere. Relabeling other lowrises would mean buildings that short would be...what?

I think a better classification is lowrise, midrise, high rise, skyscraper, supertall, etc.

This is true. i made a new system based on powers of 2 that i think fixes this problem

This is the system that I use

Megatall: 600 meters or 1,969 feet

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List...ll_skyscrapers

Supertall: 300 meters or 984 feet

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List...ll_skyscrapers

The US has no megatalls nor any plans for one but does have a growing crop of supertalls.

X-posting from the Austin sub-forum. Site Prep continues. The site plan revision seems to be close to approval.

From about two weeks ago - site prep/utility work continues while the tower is still awaiting city approval. Site plan activity indicates that approval is real close.

There are no issues with the building itself. The slight hold up seems to be because of new flood regulations since this is along Waller Creek and some right of way issues on Red River because the City is widening Red River St.

This would really be something.

At 1,022', it'd not only be the tallest skyscraper in Texas, it'd also be the tallest US skyscraper by roof height outside of NYC and Chicago, and only the 3rd such US tower over 1,000' by roof height ever built outside of NYC and Chicago.

Go on, Austin, make some big noise!

Site prep is already happening for the 98 Red River supertall. But a long term right of way closure permit for construction was filed today. The scheduled start date is 04/04/2022!

^It's not that bad, though I prefer the original design, which looks a bit like Chicago's One Museum Park:

Yeah...I like portions of the new tower design, but it's not very cohesive overall. It's like, pick one section and run with it.
