Sounds like a great idea, the city really needs a boutique hotel, and it will be the owners of the Retro Suites hotel in Chatham that will be constructing and running it.

It is a great idea.

I always had a place to stay in Windsor when my grandparents were alive. Last time I visited overnight -- on business -- I stayed at what is now the Best Western, downtown on the waterfront (I don't recall if it had the same banner... this was 12+ years ago)

Baird AE has their sign up on the empty lot of the former "Castle Gate Tower" across from the Trinity Gate Condos going up on Walker and Ducharme street.

They haven't updated their site in while, so I'd be interested to see what the eventual plan for that will be.

Interesting, I wondering what was going on with that site. Good to see something is planned for it.

That area is going to be so unbelievably congested, because it already is. Ducharme is the only real access street for all those new condos, and the entire existing subdivision (Ya there's 6th concession), but that's an even lower tier/capacity road.

Windsor area sees second-highest business activity level in Ontario.

Great news that our economy is growing and strengthening so much during these tough economic times. Looks like Windsor, KW and London are the top performing metros.

Here is a nice Windsor skyline shot at sunset taken from Belle Isle. The new Gordie Howe bridge can also be seen in the picture. The photos are from a group named Detroit Photography on Facebook.

It's kind of amazing they managed to get both bridges in one shot. I'm not a photographer but it couldn't have been easy.

Record population growth for Windsor continues this quarter, growing by 3.9% annually, the strongest growth in 25 years.

Unfortunately, the article confuses the population of 15 year olds and above with the actual metro population, as well as the number of new residents added. It also uses the old boundaries of the metro, which Statscan uses in its monthly labour market indicators.

It states that 3,600 new residents have moved to the area so far this year, but with the new boundaries added and the additional under 15 year olds added in, I would think the actual number is actually closer to 4,500 new residents.

It also states the the area added 12,100 new residents in the past 12 months, which would work out to around 15,000 or so with the new boundaries and under 15 year olds added. So I would imagine our actual metro population is around 440,000 to 445,000 currently. At these rates half a million is not too far off.
