plus the olympics in vancouver was sort of crappy. the entire first week felt dead and off, that cauldron thing was surrounded by ugly chainlink fencing, there were cinder blocks and super-save temp fencing everywhere else. sure, it saved money, but you came away with the impression either that they were holding the games together with scotch tape, or that canadians consider such things to be appropriate - both terribly embarrassing. came alive in the second week, maybe because the canadians started winning medals, but the point is that i don't see how vancouver's experience is evidence that it should be doing the olympics again and again. maybe it didn't bankrupt the city, but it wasn't a giant success either.
that said, if you all up there get a new metro line for every olympics, you should jump on board with this olympics idea.
