Austin | ATX Tower (325 West 6th) | 675 Feet | 58 Floors | T/O

I thought I would go ahead and start a thread for this project since all indications are pointing to a substantial tower. City documents describe it as a mixed use high-rise with multi-family and office. The Ryan Company (5th & Brazos, Oracle Campus) is involved with the project.

Here's the site plan:
https://abc.austintexas.gov/web/perm...ertyrsn=319485

Here's the footprint from AULCC:

ftp://ftp.ci.austin.tx.us/ATD_AULCC/.../191017/PLANS/

Here's the site from Streeview:

Google also drove through the alley behind the site. Good riddance.

I sometimes walk up to that ATM on my way to the clubs. Actually should just use the Chase ATM in the garage nextdoor.

When you say substantial, any idea of how tall this tower could be?

There's nothing specific about the height or floor count yet in city documents. But it's not in a CVC. The site plan is probably three or four weeks away from having more info added to it. So we'll probably have to wait until then for more info unless something new shows up for AULCC or the Design Commission next week.

That's probably a safe bet for a 1/4 block. Without knowing anything else, 350' to 450' is always a good range. But sometimes we get something taller like Hanover.

TOWERS' contacted Ryan Companies. They are both developer and contractor. This will have 360 apartments.

360 is a lot of apartments for a relatively small site. The Hanover tower has the exact foot print (.47 vs .48 acres) and only has 309 units. Plus this one has office levels. So we could be looking at a 600 footer. But that of course depends on the number of office levels and whether or not any of the parking is underground.

That is a nice looking tower. Austin could use a residential tower like that. We are starting to look too much like Miami or Vancouver, which is not a bad thing.

There's a thread for Ryan Co.'s Minneapolis tower at SSC. At 550', it's probably similar in height to what they have planned here. Here's another rendering:

Oh, man. I would love that. I actually was saying when I saw that tower a while back that I would love to see a building like that on the northwest side of our downtown. I would love to see it stand out a bit away from the pack for some prominence the way it does in Minny Apples. There are some great lighting opportunities there.

It sucks that they didn't mention the condo count. It would make it easier for us to guage the scale of what we could be getting. But holy possum balls, if we get something like Minni happyness, it would be the first real stylish residential tower in our inventory. We really deserve a duplicate of this.

A few days ago...logging on and seeing a new tower out of nowhere in my new favorite part of downtown is why I visit this page all day while at work. The anticipation for any details is killing me.

It certainly is a great time for being a skyscraper fan in Austin right now. This project, Block 190 and Tower 5c are the three I'm most interested in getting details about. We should get more info on Tower 5c in about a week, maybe two, from the site plan. This Friday we could get the first public renderings for multiple projects posted for Monday's Design Commission meeting.
