abortion discussion is not a chicago specific political issue.

it belongs in the CE toilet.

Looks like the evil Griffin (because he doesn’t fall in line with Illinois’ secular religion) is donating $2 MM to the West Side to fight violence:

Im interested to see if Anna Valencia will run for mayor if she loses the Secretary of State primary next month. People have said that she is interested.

Quote:
Valencia has been a rising star on the political scene ever since Emanuel appointed her to succeed Susana Mendoza as city clerk after Mendoza (one of many unsuccessful 2019 mayoral candidates) was elected Illinois comptroller. And everybody who knows her knows her ultimate goal is to be elected mayor.

Did anyone hold their breath to end up in a new ward? I did, and it didn't work.

I didn't hold my breath, but it looks like I'm going to be in a new ward anyway. Going from the 1st to that monstrosity they call the 36th ward.

And no, I don't plan on changing my user title.

Rule 1: Diversity, equity, justice, mand inclusion don't matter.

Rule 2: UNLESS you can twist it into a political talking point.

For those keeping track at home, Buckner has actually talked a good game regarding transportation issues. He's in favor of CTA joining the Metra Electric pilot and fare integration between Metra/CTA. He's also come out in favor of bus lanes (granted, Lightfoot said this too and hasn't really done much).

Maybe a fortunate side effect of his DUI's is a license suspension that forced him to think about other ways to get around?

I got a phone "survey" from presumably his proto-campaign team a few months ago that was mostly focused on introducing him. As of now, he's probably the best candidate.

I set up a recurring donation to his campaign, not sure he has my vote but I'm interested to hear more from him. We need as many realistic candidates to gain name recognition against Lightfoot as possible.

"Buckner is the chair of the Illinois House Black Caucus."

^ Automatic disqualifier in my book

Any "caucus" based on race is already a nonstarter. Plus they support a lot of shit that is just plain wrong

it doesn't much matter as you don't get a vote in this race.

the citizens of the city of chicago will decide who our next mayor will be.

and i highly doubt a meaningful number of them will give one single shit about "Buckner is the chair of the Illinois House Black Caucus."

much to the chagrin of many of the suburban politicians out there.

Buckner's suitability for the office of mayor will be based upon other factors.

^ Yeah, I know I don't have a vote, but I still care about who wins.

Anyone to the Left of Lightfoot is a nonstarter in my opinion
