You literally took an image of a mostly blighted rundown industrial/low income residential area called Riverside and then say it represents the entire city. I know it's OKC, but damn, be for real here.

It shows the entire skyline. Here's a "better" shot for you but, let's be real, there's no zoomed-out angle where OKC is going to look good from the air. It's already by far the most pathetic "urban" area, probably in all of North America (or even the entire American continent), to have a building exceeding 800'.

Doesn’t look bad to me. I do look forward to seeing the lots around Paycom developed. And I suspect the new arena to be a catalyst.

In America, if it don't make money, it don't get built.

We've been over this hundreds of times now.

I understand how they work but think it would be neat if the government could fund cooler projects, even if profits are lower overall. Same reason all the other cool stuff around the world gets built (not just skyscrapers but really anything).

OKC is not really the place though, ideally a better established skyscraper city.

Did the Apollo program make any money? I guess going to space is more important than building a skyscraper but both are feats of human ingenuity.

The Apollo program wasn't about making money.

It was about beating the soviets in the space race.

The federal government doesn't give a single flying shit about skyscrapers.

That is squarely "private sector" stuff here.

As space exploration is increasingly becoming as well.

I bet the tallest tower is just a PR stunt more than anything.

Looks dece. A little generic. Not a fan of the base though. Doesn't really mesh well with the main building. Also it's a bit odd to see such a large tower next to a bunch of surface parking lots.

Here's the site of the midrise portion:

And the tower section:

As you can see, nothing around for miles.

Surfed around downtown for a bit and it looks pretty dead, even in the pre-pandemic times:

I smell OKC envy. It was one of those cities I didn’t expect to like but did.

As an OKC resident I was so scared that it made it onto this forum. This proposal is a joke. Not real at all. Don't waste any brain cells on it.

Now, the three smaller towers are an actual thing and should start next year. That's cool enough in itself. I don't know why they decided to add that behemoth in the renderings.

CTBUH calls it a "vision":

If built this would be the world's tallest residential building, although Dubai is trying to build one that's even taller, 1,850 ft.

I wouldn't go too hard on OKC - They do have a nice little entertainment district (Bricktown). They have a Native American museum on the river (https://famok.org/).

I've seen worse.... And they have made efforts over the last 20 years to try to beef up their downtown scene.

the proposed boardwalk at bricktown would be a close second to the country’s tallest building

boardwalk at bricktown would stretch twice as tall as the devon energy center building, shown to the right of the proposed tower, and be across the street from where paycom center currently stands.

nooooooo, come to wichita and build a 43 story 580 foot building here and then build a 91 story 1,170 foot tower in okc. I am so sick of wichita being skipped. Bring extra people too.

I would do anything for a 43 story 580 footer here in Wichita. Bring a tower and some extra people with you The Epic Center is around 385 feet to the tip of the iconic sloped roof but there is no observation area at all.

I wish Devon Energy Center would come here to Wichita and bring a large tower with them that has a Vast Restaurant inside it. Like a restaurant 500 feet high and a maximum height of 600 feet.
