Ah, Biff!

Not much of a shot, but here ya go.
That's a big boi of a crane.

So, do they do the exterior of the residence to make it look like it's always been there or do they take the opportunity to re-clad the entire structure and bring it up to date?

You can see the gap for 308 Colony in the distance between the 2 white buildings. It seems like a tight squeeze.

...thanks for the cranes shot.

If they're paying the full cost then that might explain it... I would have expected there to be some other players at the table. But even if there weren't I would have thought RWB would still try for a bit of a media splash.

Is the new residence going to be built over top of the existing parking structure, or is the parkade coming down to make way for it?

Assuming money due to the pandemic hotel crash. But haven't seen anything official as far as I know.

I'm also thinking maybe they plan to hold for winter to avoid the costs, since it doesn't seem like a huge rush at the current time. I know it'll take a year or two to complete. But those are my assumptions.

Since they gave back the traffic lane on Carlton, I'd assume it'll be stopped for a good while.

So they aren't even going to finish off the parkade before mothballing the whole project?

The bill for those cranes just sitting there probably ain’t cheap.

Probably be over 100k for those cranes to sit over the winter. Never mind how long they've already been sitting.

Is there a thread for the Wawanesa project?

They're putting up the fencing around the site this morning.

Student residence is a mix of 2.5 storey and 3 storey. Wawanesa will likely surpass the Sutton Project. They apparently have the cranes issue all planned out.

Thanks, Biff... so from the sounds of it the RWB residence will be close to even height with their existing building? Do you know if they're treating it as an addition or will it be a separate, standalone building over top of the parkade?

Also, interesting news re: Wawanesa. I wonder what the outlook is for the Sutton Place buildings, though...

Also... any chance we can start a True North Square Part II thread?

It would be nice to have all of the latest project facts at a glance, but since the OP in this thread, Cyro, is long gone, there have been no updates to keep page 1 up to date.

With three more towers and the student residence (basically an honorary part of TNS so far as I can tell) still to come, there is a lot going on here that would justify locking this thread and creating a new one.

Yeah, sorry I don't know. I only get tid-bits of info on this one. Still very secretive...for some reason.

I would have to believe it is being treated as an addition with them removing the envelope on the south side of the RWB building. A stand alone likely wouldn't require that.
