I agree what we need to invest in beautifying the country but disagree as to the era you take issue with. 2000-2020 represent an all time low in terms of overall design, architecture, and/or quality. 1970-2000 about 25-30% of what got built looks great. 2000-2020 that figure plummeted to about 10-15% of buildings. Of the last 200 high-rises Canada has built only about 20-30 of them I'd consider attractive. The rest range from forgettable to outright terrible.

I can't think of a single building in Burnaby 100m+ I'd want to keep.

I'd keep the Metrotown office towers. Aside from those, there's nothing I would keep as well. Hopefully Gilmore Place turns out nice.

From Stage 2 west update. Richmond Road in Ottawa is developing quite the canyon, with the new O-Train tunnel u/c and two new stations accelerating development.

I think that is more of a cliff than a canyon

Looks like a ridge to me.

Won't be long before it becomes a canyon though.

I don't know if this has been discussed but what it the smallest community in Canada to have an urban canyon? I'm interested in reading what you all think it is.
