It's very hard to choose between NYC and HK as far as best night skylines go, thats why its amusing to read this thread and watch grown men act like pissy children when someone doesn't agree with their opinion. Anyone who posts that NYC or HK's skylines suck clearly has a motive and is a sore sport. And then there are like half of the posts in this thread of poeple just posting their own city.

Again hard to call between HK and NYC. It depends on how I feel. If I'm feeling like color, light and dazzle, going wtih HK. If I'm going with elegance, beauty and class, then it is NYC. To dismiss HK as being showy and substanceless or NYC as just a bunch of ugly brown buildings with yellow lights shows no understanding of architecture and aesthetic.

Pathetic? Yes.

No hope for it getting better?

well I have only seen a few skylines at night in person. here's how I would rank them:

1. Hong Kong
2. Chicago
3. Calgary (yeah, I'm a homer but it really is beautiful at night especially from close up)
4. Guangzhou
5. Toronto (only seen it from the sky)
6. Miami (also sky only)
7. Lima
8. Bogota
9. Denver
9. Edmonton

I couldn't decide which I liked less of Denver and Edmonton

I have but I don't remember much what it looked like, I was young. I remember it being beautiful and green and warm in summer and we had a picnic at some gorgeous park. we stayed way out in Shakopee and we went to Valleyfair, the Metrodome, Mall of America. I have to say though, Mall of america seemed pretty boring after going to Valleyfair, except legoland, that was awesome!

^ maybe I'd have to see it in person, but doesn't have much to it. I wouldn't rank it in the top 100 even

No one has posted one of Denver yet, so I thought I'd chime in. Not the best picture, and even at its best angles, Denver's skyline has no way to compete with HK, NYC, or others.

Still, it's pretty in its own right:

For me, the top 5:

Hong Kong
Chicago
New York
Sydney
Miami

Up and comers:

London
Dubai
Shanghai
Moscow
Denver? (j/k)

KULA LOMPUR?

SINGAPORE?

SHANGHAI?

Believe it or not TEHARAN

As much as this Vietnam Vet hates to admit it, HANOI is exploding with a new Skyline.
In 5 years, it's going to be incredible!

the only real best skylines in the world are New York, Chicago, Toronto and maybe L.A.
ive seen chicago and torontos skylines at night before ive been there. the CN tower really looks amayzing at night. and the sears tower makes chicagos night sky look great too.
but i have yet to see New Yorks.

Seattle ranks high-- I like this.

Tokyo, Dubai, Auckland (Orc Land Noosey Lund), Seattle, Edmonton, Toronto, Mexico City, Nawlins, Atlanta, Houston, NYC, and Chicago-- no particular order.
