Everyone remembers the ice storm, but nobody talks about the solidification of the Saint Lawrence. Skipping along the mud flats all the way to Sorel... those were the days.

Awesome Montreal pics. I’ve been back to look over them a few times.

So, I tried to find this out for myself but my Google Fu has failed me. What changed about the river? Any before/after from the same angle?

There is no before and after. It looks exactly the same today as this picture above.

Some people in BC completely earnestly refer to Toronto or Montreal as being on the "East Coast". I don't think they consider Alberta "West Coast".

Amazing that only 4 or 5 years after it was built, the CN HQ's facade isalready covered in a thick coat of black grime.

Don't forget the plethora of European license plates seen on the cars driving on the roads in Banff (Allan83).

You forgot the fact that people in NL and Ireland are interchangeable and they basically finish each others sentences and they are like brothers with different mothers.

My favourite was that Calgary is clearly Canada's cultural capital, far outpacing trailing Vancouver and Montreal. Toronto obviously ranks so low it's hanging out with the likes of places like Red Deer.

forgot about that. Total Allan83manship. I think he rated Toronto lower than Red Deer. Or Okotoks for that matter. Not enough gravitas.

It was officially named that by the federal government the year of the 100th Stampede. Not arguing the fact that other cities clearly do better, more that it was a 1 time thing.

Okotoks' main asset, an enormous rock, does have quite a bit of gravitational pull.
