That should be iSeatz -- there was an article not long ago about them hiring up for more positions in the NO office. I guess they're taking over some adjacent, empty office space on the first floor of the IP Building.

'A platinum star year' as New Orleans Armstrong airport sets another passenger record

In its last full year operating out of its existing terminal, Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport once again posted record-breaking passenger numbers in 2018, with more than 13.1 million travelers passing through the facility.

The banner year marks the eighth straight year of growth, and the fourth year in a row in which the airport — which will be moving to a new terminal in May — has broken its previous passenger record, according to airport officials.

“The exponential growth of the airport over the last four years can no doubt be attributed to the economic vitality of the greater New Orleans region,” Director of Aviation Kevin Dolliole said in a statement

This phase has been managed so much better than the first one!

We are now more than 50 % complete with the Bourbon Phase 2 project. Crews have completely demobilized all labor and materials, including fencing, from the site and backfilled open trenches 2 weeks in advance of Mardi Gras to minimize pedestrian and vehicular traffic disruption. Operations will resume on Thursday, March 7, weather permitting.

Possible layouts emerge for Charity Hospital redevelopment

https://expo.nola.com/news/g66l-2019...elopment-.html

I think this sounds really cool ;"The box marked in orange atop Charity Hospital, shown in the diagram above, will become a rooftop restaurant, according to development plans."

this is a picture of the interior space for the rooftop restaurant bar

Work is ongoing at the building on the corner of S. Rampart and Gravier.

Also looks like fencing and workers are on site at the former Oil and Gas building.

The Diamond Street project looks great.

I can't tell you how impressed I am with everything going on -- Charity Hospital, the airport, Bourbon Street, etc.

NOW HIRING experienced servers, bartenders, bussers & hosts

for our opening team!$!$!$!$!

New Orleans restaurateur Al Copeland Jr. has an exciting new restaurant slated to open late March that blends Latin and New Orleans flavors for a high-profile restaurant space located at 2001 St. Charles Avenue.

The approach is a collaboration between Copeland and local Chef Chris Lusk. The Nolé Restaurant concept is a departure from Copeland’s other restaurants, which is one reason he wanted to bring in a new chef.

The restaurant space is getting a thorough redesign and will have two bars, and a terrace room will face St Charles Avenue with the feel of a patio and broad windows that can open in good weather, looking out to the passing streetcars.

theres been quite a few new flights this month already.. some to destinations we already serve or new ones like Louisville, Kentucky.

I did see an article from BahamasAir mentioning they would like to use new aircraft they bought to service cities like new orleans and chicago

Bahamasair Invests $11.4m In New Jet

“If you look at where we don’t have nonstop service…New Orleans, Chicago, year-round, Cincinnati — if you look at these secondary markets that are not serviced very well by nonstop service, this is where Bahamasair can step in and improve airlift to the country,” Mr D’Aguilar said. “Because that’s going to have to be our marketing plus over the other airlines.”

There are already a good number, but most flights being added are to currently served destinations. Southwest will be up over 5 flights per day this summer compared to last and Spirit up 3, Alaska adding a second SEA flight for much of the year, United adding more DEN and DL more weekend service. Most of that doesn't make the news, but is already putting us on track for over 14 million in 2019.

I did hear a rumor that Spirit is planning to go up to 30 departures, up from 19 this summer, but not sure on the time frame for that.

The other thing is upgrading to larger aircraft which is easier to do in the NT with larger gate areas. The average number of seats per flight continues to increase noticeably.

yeah i think the main thing with the new terminal is ease of transferring passengers.. the current airport can sort of do it but not nearly as well also the new airport will have a much more efficient fueling system that is built into the ground.. airlines want that if they intend to increase frequency... if spirit gets to as many flights as they appear to be that could easily make us a smaller hub for them .. i wish spirit would just buy terminals d and c in the current terminal and make their own hub out of it

Saints to share some costs in next step of potential Superdome renovation plan

I know there were some questions on here recently about this.

https://www.nola.com/saints/2019/02/...tion-plan.html

Some of the legwork on creating detailed architectural plans for an extensive renovation of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome is complete, and now the New Orleans Saints are on board.

Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District on Thursday (Feb. 21) approved a memorandum of understanding between the LSED, the Saints and SMG — the company that manages and operates the Dome — to share the funding and development of the additional architectural services related to the proposed extensive renovation plan.

I just hope they're shouldering a lot of the cost. I love the Saints as much as the next New Orleanian, but cities providing hundreds of millions of dollars to NFL teams is really getting old, especially for one like ours that has plenty of infrastructure work to do. A little off topic, but I hope a deal is worked out to get the city more of the tourism revenue we generate so that we can invest in transportation and drainage.
