I'm still in disbelief about it. I mean, the idea of something that tall happening. Somebody pinch me. I've been watching Indeed Tower rise from around my area in South Austin. We have some really nice views of it here. 306 feet more, and that'll be 6 X Guadalupe. Incredible.

I noticed that a 6 X Guadalupe drawing was added to the Austin diagram this week! Very nice!

Nice. That's showing the setback below 600 feet, though. It's actually 655 feet, and should be higher than the main roof of both The Independent and Austonian.

Are we thinking about 2 floors a week once they start pouring above ground?

That seems rather ambitious to me. I feel more on the order of 1 1/2 floors per week. I just want to mention that I don't like that the Fairmont sits at 4th highest on that drawing only by virtue of that pole sticking out of the roof. It's statically inflating. The spire makes up 170 ft of the total 592 ft height. That's almost 30% of the total height. Ridiculous. And Its probably just me, but 6X just doesn't seem that tall to me.

It's still going to be slow going while the giant podium is being built. Once they get to the office levels it'll start rising quickly.

I was going to mention this. It should be slow for now so we all need to be patient still

They shouldn't be allowed to count the Fairmont's spire in its height.

This is an issue with lots of buildings. This may be one of the more absurd.. but 1WTC is out there with like 500 ft of spire :p

I don't know how this could be qualified and applied to all buildings, but I think the 360 spire is a good example of a spire being an architectural detail that should be included in the height. The Fairmont spire is an example of a spire that could just be tacked on years later in a feeble attempt to keep a building atop a City's list of tallest buildings.

Crazy that the 4 tallest were built within 3 years of each other, back between 1982-5... and looks like, aside from 609 Main in Houston in 2017, TX hasn't had a new building crack the top 10 since 1987.

Will 6X have an observation deck for the public? For that matter, do you think Austin will ever have something similar to the CN tower in Toronto or Tower of Americas down in SA? I feel like that's a missing piece for you guys.

It is highly doubtful.

This fantasy one is nice though.

If I were building one, I would place it at the Statesman or states offices on the south shore.
