It is the new Harbour Passage extension, that has been well documented and was a separate tender issued by the City from the Ihtoli-maqahamok work. The paving took place in the Fall and it will be coated in the classic Cranberry colour to match the rest of the trail some time this Spring.

It looks great, I love the amphitheaters and seating options, much more contemporary than the older parts of the trail.

Ah. OK.

I knew there was going to be an extension...I guess I assumed it would follow the same progress as the site as it was being developed.

Great to see it being done prior so tourists and locals can get the most of the waterfront while it progresses! Amazing!

Nice to see. Can't wait for there to be a line of cement trucks and pumpers working!

I see there is now an Iron Maple sign up beside the Fundy harbour Group one. I didn’t realize they were going to sub out the construction. Iron maple knows what they are doing this makes me more confident in the finished product.

Judging by the number of porta-potties being delivered to the site, I'd say things are just about to start flowing! (I mean construction)

Found a listing for leasing of the commercial spaces. 13,000 - 33,500 square feet of retail space available. One says available November 2025, the other says November 2027.

https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/35-W...n-NB/31489390/

Also these drawings were included. The public community/cultural/commercial entertainment spaces will now be integrated into the NW building, instead of being it's own building.

And there is an updated rendering of the South East building, (now with the South West building next to it):

Was the nw building always supposed to be a hotel? Or is that something new as well?

Nope, was always labeled as "Hospitality/Accommodation". But the word "hotel" wasn't written on the plans before though.

When do we think Saint John will build something higher than 20
storeys?

Who’s got an idea/plan to make it happen?

What about 91 King Street? I think his original plan was 12, but would 20 floors be possible there?

Anything is possible but if the developer is struggling to make 12 stories financially viable I'm not sure 20 is likely.

It sure would stand out on top of the hill though....

Down where the former SJ energy substation / SJ parking lot. I could see something like Halifax’s Maple building there

An update look of the work happening on site this afternoon. Looks like concrete pouring is starting.

Since office space isn't in need right now, unless a major company moved to SJ, it prolly wouldn't be a commercial building. I've heard Cooke could use some facilities, but to make any new building 20 stories, would prolly have to have a major residential component.

So that leaves residential. I doubt the Fundy Quay 19-storey building will have floors added, but who knows...If the demand is there, anything is possible.
