Cusco Peru

I found Cusco to be weird, it was interesting and so many street dogs, you gotta watch where you step. A strong little city.

Interesting pics. I hadn't heard about all the dogs.

I think it's Cusco that my Dad mentioned as having an interesting approach and landing at the airport. Don't know if it was a mountainous approach or what.

Cool pics. Cuzco is amazing. The pics look to be near the airport which would explain street dogs. In the Main Square tourist area I never saw any dogs.

Thanks for the thread! Brings me back to my time in a city I love... although I didn't love the altitude sickness... interesting to see a Cuzco photo thread featuring just regular street life shots and not including any from in and around Plaza de Armas or Sacsayhuaman or anything.

I concur, very interesting photos, and it's interesting to see regular street life photos of Cusco. In addition to those places you mentioned, I was also expecting to see the street of balconies, and Calle Siete Borreguitos.

I've been catching up on sleep and will get back to more posting. We stayed in a small hotel just a few minutes away from the Historic Centre across the street was I believe some kind of beer or bottling factory.

Landing was amongst the mountains, was not a typical landing or one I have ever experienced.

We caught a local bus on a search for a sim card and jumped off near this church and convent. We really didn't go inside any churches or museums while there so we just admired from the outside.

Very nice photos. Looks like such an interesting place to visit!

How was the vibe as compared with Lima?

thanks, Cusco was more Touristy than Lima, we never really saw a lot as our time was limited, on the way to the airport we saw many places that were sort of different, a little wider streets and some more modern buildings, but nothing really that different. There was a modern shopping mall that we never made it there, it had one of the three Starbucks in Cusco. A lot of the smaller shops outside of the historic centre were often in the dark as they must keep their power off, and some of the stores had coolers for the water and pops, etc but they weren't on so they weren't cold. It felt poorer than Lima, car-wise, Lima had many more expensive models and brands like Mercedes, BMW, etc most of the cars in Cusco were small and Suzukis were probably the most common that we would see. The vibe was nice, quite laidback and I never felt in fear of anything, people were helpful and friendly.

I am trying to upload more pics but for some reason the Flickr ap isn't doing it properly I'll post more when I get it figured out.

We arrived in Cusco on Monday just before lunch, so Tuesday was our only full day to get about and we took a bumpy twisty van ride to the nearby town of Pisac which is in the Spiritual Valley and has a number of sights to see, we didn't get to any of them but really enjoyed a look around the town for a couple of hours. It was very appealing to what one might call Hippies and many spiritual and yoga type places were plentiful in the town and area with many shops selling incense and crystals.

These are just a random assortment of places.

This was the police building on the plaza.
