Really interesting article about this kinda weird phenomena ... and I appreciate that Kathy Finn makes the connection that these self-storage places are seen as a better investment than housing, which consequently affects the supply of housing and the market for it. While I don't necessarily have a problem with them, especially the well-designed ones, I do wonder how they affect our city - and wonder if at this point we should even require them to have more-mixed-use components.

Great question! I think the ones that arent in major corridors are fine but saybfor example the one on tulane ... id like if they would require some more commercial on ground floor ... these units however do come with a sales office but its an interesting thought but my guess is with all the proposals already in line any required changes woukd be late to the game and miss this cycle

Canopy Of Peace /Higgins Hotel/ Hall Of Democracy

Swooning over the exterior details at the Taylor Education Building. Our Steel Group created and installed this gorgeous copper canopy while our Millwork Group created and installed this custom door to make the perfect fit!

Great shot of NOMA's Besthoff Sculpture Garden expansion site captured by Zephyr Drones! As you can see, the oval-shaped, main gallery building now has its roof and is ready for rough-in to begin. We look forward to sharing continued updates as the project progresses. #palmisanoprojects #noma1910 #sydneyandwaldabesthoffsculpturegarden

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood! We are climbing closer to topping out at the Higgins Hotel & Conference Center. #palmisanoprojects #nationalwwiimuseum

The redesigned Duncan Plaza looks incredible. I hope any City Hall move/expansion delays it, cuz we need that new space yesterday. Municipal employees and departments could use a well-designed addition that works in conjunction with the new plaza, so I'm excited for it.

you hope it delays it?

well I think City Hall expansion and modification of existing space is best path forward and let civil court move to somewhere else completely and move council chambers to where civil court is currently or bull doze it and expand duncan plaza so it fronts poydras and connexts to champions square superdome.. ..they could also easily tear down that ugly garage on lasalle between the street and the park and build something new there

this is stunning, and its refreshing to see an adaptive re-use of a church that dosent totally obliterate the former interior, and actually respects its historic elements.

it feels like every church conversion ive seen in Chicago somehow comes out looking bland and soul-less
