Yes, the marijuana leaf superimposed on the fleur de lis flag is a nice touch.

I thought it might be the symbol for the Bloc Pot fringe political party but apparently it is not.

Pretty good. Those four years paid off!

Brossard QC certainly can top this!

Well, after seeing those beauties from Edmonton and Brossard I think I may have to admit defeat. I am thinking hard of places here that can top those but so far I am stumped.

Feeling a bit better about my city though... maybe it is not as tacky as I had always assumed.

Haha, Thunder Bay has nothing on those cities. Oh well. The closest I can think of is this.

But here: This building hasn't been occupied since it was built in 2007, and this church looks like an abattoir.

It's really fun to make fun of it, yes.

"Oh, where do you live?"
"I live in a Greek temple."
"Coooool."

Of course for every one thousand of those, we have one of these. It balances out. Somehow...

Oh, for anyone who watches Prison Break, this is Hamilton Street, which was mentioned in the first or second season. My mom and her siblings all went to that school at the end when it was part of the public system, it's the largest in the city. I went here. It was closed a month before this was taken.

And here is Paul Shaffer Drive!

And lastly, for the Hamiltonians, this is the toxic pit that was going to be a hotel developed by that Draco or Darko guy, whatever his name was. There is a sign that says it is named after someone but I couldn't get close enough to read it.

That neighbourhood makes me sad. Interesting attempt at making a main street in DIX30 though, even if it is just a glorified power centre.

Maybe this can cheer me up:

If you guys want tacky, take a stroll up this street and the areas around it. Try finding something that isn't tacky. And welcome to the Las Vegas of Canada!!

http://maps.google.ca/?ie=UTF8&ll=43...12,323.01,,0,5

I can't think of much that would constitute tacky up in my area, even though there's a lot of stuff that is suburban and/or ugly.

I guess there's this.

http://maps.google.ca/?ie=UTF8&ll=43...p=12,74.9,,1,0

Up until a couple of years ago, it was the Castle on King. Now it's the Yeung Lue Hot Pot on King. Either way, it's just as tacky.

Tacky, and iconic, is Hans Haus, the Oktoberfest Tourism/Info Centre.

WTF is that?

Speaking of "faux chateau", can anyone beat this? http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&sourc...8.01,,0,-17.08

At least it seems it was built in the early 20th century

I swear I've seen those houses before!

Actually, now that I think about it, there are some pretty tacky buildings right here in Cambridge.

The most f'ed up looking convenience store you'll ever see.

http://www.google.ca/maps?ie=UTF8&la...59.972878&z=15

An Ewok village for UW architecture grad students.

http://www.google.ca/maps?ie=UTF8&la...59.972878&z=15

And last, but certainly not least, the Satellite Motel!! I definitely would not want to walk into one of those rooms with those fluid detecting goggles!

Port Arthur's armoury was designed by the same architect as Winnipeg's.

Awkward looking historic building? The Coo House, 1898.

Deconstructivist residential architecture? Not in Thunder Bay there isn't!

Shitty little access road motel? A guy was beaten half to death in this one last month. Three or four people from across the country were arrested over three weeks in relation to the crime, including a guy from Vietnam.

Advertising gimmick. Cars on or in things are common here. Note the name of the business.
