If built, at 295', it would be the forth tallest in Midtown:
  • Broadwest Apartments, 35 stories, 406'
  • Broadwest Office, 21 stories, 326'
  • 2012 West End Residential, 25 stories, 299'
  • 19th & Broad Residential, 26 stories, 295'
  • Skyhouse, 25 stories, 289'
  • Palmer Plaza, 18 stories, 269'
One project I actually would love to see die because of that gorgeous old home and large trees currently there.

A couple of found pictures. From Midtown..

The Broadwest development going up on the left. There might be a couple of more buildings going up that will frame the 'split' and make it seem a little 'Times Squarish'.

The Kennect residential is going up on the right in the neighborhood I call Taylor Town (named after its most famous resident). Nobody else calls it that.

Nashville definitely has a lot of room for more canyons.

Also...The Moore Building (named after Elvis Presley's guitar player, Roy Moore) is being reported as beginning construction in Midtown in December this year whether they have tenants or not. It will cost $107 million. There have been a few small tweaks to the façade materials shown in earlier renderings. Portman Holdings is now in charge of the project.

And its setting in the neighborhood..

Now we need a 'Heartbreak Hotel'!

More canyons!

Does anyone think will be another shot at a mass transit package like the one that was shot down? I don't know much of Nashville but I suspect a large part of the opposition came from the taxes it would raised. If they can find a way to pull from other taxes and not the hotel tax might they have a better chance?

Right now, Nashville is right in the midst of a Mayoral election runoff and both candidates are dancing around the controversial subject and not fully endorsing any grand rapid transit program. However, the Governor has apparently promised to make sure the State of Tennessee will be a partner in developing a functional transit plan. There have been reports that, as fast as Nashville is adding businesses, there are concerns among some (Oracle?) that there is no 'rapid' transit program in development.

I believe when the new administration (or less likely, the current one..) begins, there will be a plan which will be implemented in stages.

The city actually supported the plan by about a 60-40 margin until the damn Koch Brothers got implemented a disinformation campaign. That is not to say that there weren't other issues, but my point is that I think the appetite for a massive transit overhaul is there if it is done right. I don't think another plan is too far off for reasons Midtenn1 outlined.

Wouldn’t be ironic if a conservative governor was more instrumental, in pushing through transit, than liberal mayors ?

I'm not sure that "ironic" is really the word for it.

That is interesting. I know they were involved in the Phoenix LRT expansion hiatus and the citizens remained wise and voted that measure down. Hopefully Nashville get a dedicated source of revenue for mass transit expansion and quick.

Meanwhile, his brother bought two vacant lots - one to either side of his East Nashville house -- also with home equity loans/cash-out refi's. He's now sitting on about 2 acres of land in East Nashville. He bought those lots in 2014 for $100k apiece.

Who knows if we're in a bubble right now, but ordinary people - not just institutional investors - are definitely taking huge financial risks to speculate in Nashville real estate.

I think the house is doomed regardless of what happens there. It's already abandoned and it appears the move to Marathon Village is no longer an option.

An interesting view of the skyline from the west on top of a parking garage.

I took the picture, BTW.

And the incumbent Mayor, Briley, was defeated overwhelmingly by Cooper, yesterday. Not sure what that means.

I was wondering about the implications myself. That’s a decisive thumping.
