As for skyscrapers, I think many of us agree that Hong Kong can't be touched. If all the projects in Dubai come to fruition, it might be able to give HK a run for its money, but I doubt it. Hong Kong's natural setting is unreal. Deserts aren't really my thing
I would like to nominate San Antonio for the best contrast daytime/night time. By day its brown and gap-toothed and rather small, but at night it looks totally different. It's not nearly as spectacular as those great pictures of Toronto, though.
Toronto cannot be compared with Chicago, end of story.
Of course it can, they have similar sized skylines. Chicago has more tall buildings, but Toronto has more buildings period. Both are great, but I would say Chicago comes out slightly ahead.

im very surprised to see few choices with atlanta.
and not even being biased, but atlanta is lit up in a delicate manner that very few cities can match.
my other choices (besides the most popular ones here) would be philadelphia, san francisco, parts of doha, and even parts of london.

Toronto looks gorgeous, but you cannot compare the scale of the skylines for both cities. Chicago is significantly larger.
I have to also give props to Calgary, not even close to the big boys like NYC or HK, but representing the one million crowd very well. We do need a lot more lighting at night though.

For fear of this turning into a vs thread, I will say one more thing. Toronto's skyline is a little more than 2x as long as it is wide (wide being the view from the water), but that being the case, I would say that it is about 3/4 the width of Chicago's skyline, but 10x longer. Like I said before I think Chicago has a nicer skyline, but not by much. It will be an interesting comparison in a few years because both are adding a ton of buildings.
Both Toronto and Chicago have great skylines and both are experiencing a building boom, but it is Chicago that has the supertalls being built from left and right. Toronto has great density, but lacks any supertalls. This is where Chicago easily comes on top.
