Rocane - a sketchup city

The 54-story Market Street Place is a mixed use building containing offices, a hotel and condominiums. It is 755 feet (230 m) tall and was constructed in 1974. It was the third tallest building in Rocane at that time.



The ABA Building was completed as Midwest headquarters for Allied Bank America Corporation in 1975. It has 38 stories and is 568 feet (173 m) tall.



The records of the National Archive of France claimed that a there was a French outpost on the Rocane River in the 18th century. No physical evidence of this was found until work on the last undeveloped lot of the Riverfront Renewal Project began in 1974. Soon the remains of a French fort were discovered and the work was halted. Historians argued that the remains should be preserved. The developer wanted the building to be built. A compromise was made, when the base of the building was rented to the Rocane City Museum, and the remains of the fort were preserved as a permanent part of the exhibition. The building was named Sentry Point Center.

Sentry Point Center was completed in 1977 and it was the first building in Rocane to break away from the boxy shapes of the International Style. It is 538 feet (164 m) tall and has 37 stories.

I still think you need to make a ton of those older buildings into parking lots to make it more accurate but its a great job.

Your ABA building reminds me of that red building in Chicago. I think its called the RCA building or RNA building or something like that.

I am flabbergasted! In fact, even flabbergasted isn't a big enough word!

I was dinking around on photoshop, and found a technique to consider when editing your photos (that is, if you do it on photoshop). This is just my personal taste, so just an idea to throw out there.

On photoshop I went Image>Adjust>Auto Contrast and Image>Adjust>Auto Levels and lastly Image>Adjust>Color Balance and I went +15 blue. Here were the results.





Again, you totally don't have to, I was just throwing out an idea. It's all personal taste.

Another Great Batch of buildings, the Market Street Place seems to resemble the Water Tower Place in Chi-town and the ABA Building seems to resemble the Wells Fargo Towers in LA.

Yeah, the Market Street Place is pretty much based on the Water Tower Place and I guess the ABA Building has its roots in the Wells Fargo building of LA (the picture of Los Angeles that inspired me didn't show the name of the building).

ABA looks hardly like the WF-LA tower, more CNA plaza(chicago)than anything...

I actually like anthonies shots, there much brighter and contrasted.

In the 70's the major industries in Rocane were energy and banking, the latter being the leader. Coming into the 80's Rocane was actually the banking capital of the Midwest as most large banks had their Midwest headquarters there. The major banks had their own buildings, but the Rocane Financial Center was constructed to house numerous smaller banking and financing companies. The 62-story building was completed in 1978 and with its height of 919 feet (280 m) it was the second tallest building in Rocane at that time.

I love your skyline its so realistic, it seems very unplanned which is great, like you just put buildings wherever, like in real life. Like when I make Staunton I group buildings together for the sake of the skyline. Do you know what I mean? Thats why I stared Staunton over again. JUST great job, one of the best sketchup cities, ever.

Let's move on to the 80's:

Here's the 31-story Eccron Accounting Building on 2nd Avenue (in the middle). It is 453 feet (138 m) tall and was constructed in 1983.



Rocane continued to attract financing corporations in the 80's. Even many European banks had their Midwest or even North American headquarters there. One of such banks was the British Foster Group International. This building was constructed as their North American headquarters. The 44-story Foster Tower is 630 feet (192 m) tall and was constructed in 1985.
