I'm doing my walkthrough at Sky across the street from Fontainebleau on Saturday. I'll take some shots of the site again and post them. I noticed from the KLASTV site http://wwc.instacam.com/showcam.asp?id=KLAST&size=L
that they are working on the foundation there now 24 hrs/day

Harmon Avenue Land Sale -- 'W' Hotel

Long time Lurker here -- FANTASTIC SITE -- THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR ALL THE INCREDIBLE PHOTOS. THANK YOU!!

Saw this article on GlobeSt.com about the Harmon Ave. property. This may shake things up! Explains Hard Rock plans -- may explain the games being played by Ruffin (NY buyer ?)

http://www.globest.com/news/870_870/.../159184-1.html

By the way, I would like someone to start that conversation for condo-hotel owners. I would be all over that --- but also too lazy to start it!

Silas

So I guess that's it for the W Las Vegas? Stinks for all the buyers who plunked down a deposit there.

Interesting how the Echelon's main building's narrow side faces the Strip.

Las Vegas random thoughts "March '07"...

*City Center* looks freakin great so far... (I drive by it most nights @ midnight on my way home from work) ...down the godforsaken I-15 to US95...

*Sahara* can't wait to see what the new owners do with the old place??? And, what the old owners do with the empty lots they kept??? (LVBlvd/Sahara S/W corner)???

*LVBLVD North/Main St interchange* did anyone see that someone boarded up most of the old bldg's there???... What a great place for a new highrise!!!

*Sky and Alure* make the north end of the Strip look bigger and better (sign of more to come??? YES!!!)

For me, Downtown just keeps getting better and better!!! The fact that *Fremont Street* is expanding EAST is awsome!!! (I love going downtown!!!) Less tourists=more fun !!! + I love single deck blackjack !!!

PS... Am I the only person that doesn't want to see the 1000ft+ tower built??? It would be soooo out of place, and it looks like it jumped out of the Star Wars movies!!!
I agree with you on the 1000 ft+ tower. It will really look out of place (would only fit in Dubai). I love Las Vegas and I am glad they are buidling a 1000+ buidling, but just wish they would come up with a better design.

Since there seems to be interest in this among some members here, here is a place to discuss anything Vegas condo hotel related, i.e. all the management talk, fees, rentals, that aren't contruction related:

what if Ruffin were to sell his land to W ? W would then use their existing plans on that site.

as for the LV Tower, nothing is "out of place" in Vegas guys.

THANK YOOOOOUUUUUUU!!!!!! I said from the beginning that I hated that design, on the actual thread for the building. Someone actually fought with me about it.

I'll say this: if that tower is built, it will be the first time Las Vegas disappointed me.

What is the latest word on Conrad Las Vegas (Waldorf=Astoria las vegas) ??? Has this been cancelled??? I was hoping it would get built as it would have complemented Wynn very well imo

This is a nice one indeed. I love how it seems to have lots of pools scattered all over the property (perhaps some fountains included, hard to tell from the rendering). It's a shame Echelon couldn't come up with something this good.

Note the heading "conceptual design". MHG's recently announced Hard Rock expansion doesn't include that big curvy thing or those towers on the former Las Ramblas land ... yet. Right now they're only expanding on 8 of the 23 acres next door. BTW, Klai Juba was also in on the design of W, which apparently is not going to happen now. Would be cool if they moved W to the Frontier site like somebody mentioned.
