Don't know how I missed Tamarack Wellington. For Scott, I was thinking more in the Westboro area. I thought I saw two excavations a few months ago; figured they'd be two cranes by now.

What intersection? Maybe one of the City's art studios?

It's a new condo project at Charles Bagot. Can't remember the name of it, but it is pretty substantial. Drove by there last week and there was a gigantic hole in the ground (it was a former parking lot).

edit - this is it. You are right, it's the Artist's co-op.

There's a new crane up in Bells Corners, on Moodie near Fitzgerald. I believe it's for the 300 Moodie dev application?

Yep, all Kanata cranes are gone. At least Kanata is getting a decent mass-up of buildings near its town centre, though unsurprisingly, the Claridge building is the ugliest of the bunch.

I guess there are two projects in the area. One is the condo building right on Montcalm between Gagnon and Charles-Bagot.

The other is one block behind inside the neighbourhood. That will be the artists' co-op.

Cool to see some movement in that part of Hull.

I really like the idea of this thread but now I'm totally lost. So what is the actual Ottawa-Gatineau crane index up to now?

I'm lost too. Was hoping for some more self-organizing. Will try to sum up later today.

There is also a crane I've noticed at the top end of Boul. Mont-Bleu in Hull. It's on the site of the HQ (centre diocésain) for the Catholic church in Gatineau.

This is a fairly up to date street view so the site prep had already started:

https://www.google.com/maps/@45.4614...7i16384!8i8192

After searching a bit I have found it's actually a new convent:

http://www.diocesegatineau.org/fr/ne...utera-bient-t-

These nuns I believe are "cloistered", in that they almost never go out nor do they speak. Their old convent is on Laurier towards the east end of Jacques-Cartier Park. I believe it was recently sold to a developer(?).

When Pope John Paul II visited in 1984, he paid them a special personal visit IIRC.

this is off-topic, but it seems a bunch of the gatineau people are monitoring this thread so i thought i'd ask.

I can see a lit cross at night somewhere in Gatineau, west of Hull, from my windows at Bronson and Queen/Sparks. From the top of the escarpment/the old Bronson estate.

Does anyone know where this cross is? I cant see it during daylight. You should be able to see it from around the portage bridge or the garden of the provinces and territories at night.

Problably this one at the end of rue Boucherville?

that seems right. Thanks!

I wonder how Bill 21 doesn't apply here.

Is that cross a public servant working in a position of authority?

well no, but i'm guessing the following is the relevant clause:
Quote:
The bill’s provisions prevail over those of any subsequent Act,
unless expressly stated otherwise. The bill may not be interpreted as
affecting the emblematic or toponymic elements of Québec’s cultural
heritage that testify to its history.
Quote:
historique.

Exactement. Similar to the cross on Mount Royal.

Funny how this clause was conveniently added to the Bill. I'm shocked that they didn't evoke it in order to keep the cross in the Québec Assembly.

Was it "added" or was it always there? My sense is that there was never any intention to remove stuff like "Saint-" town and street names. Or even the cross on Mount Royal.

But the cross in the assembly (IMO) had to go because it was right above the speaker's chair and held a lot of symbolism in terms of legislative power.
