I saw the post, but the image isn't showing for me. There's a blank space in Firefox and a small image icon in Chrome.

Here's the image that I'm not seeing:

& unless I'm mistaken the windows in the federal Bldg are in pairs. (not in threes)
If I may chime in here....

Several things tell me this office is in a very antique building. This has to be the old Federal Building- Post Office, built in 1906 but was inadequate the day it opened.

I believe the set of windows (circled below) match the trio of windows in Atty. Palmer's office.

I'd sure like to raise that middle blind

because it looks like the middle window is slightly larger than the outer two.

I believe the middle window is slightly larger than the outer two. (how many are like this on the building?) all on the top floor I take it.

Is there any way to find out if there was a gasometer in a vision line from that left window?

The white building on the left, w/ the arched windows, can be seen from the office too.

(Do you think the office could have been north of the center of the east side of the top floor?)

Here is a 1948 view after the demolition of the old federal PO; I've marked its location on Main Street north of City Hall, and it is obvious that the Gasometers would be visible. I think the office must have been on the 5th floor Main Street side.

'mystery' boulder on Rodeo Drive.

I was in the google-mobile this morning and noticed this LARGE rock on the northeast corner of Santa Monica blvd. and Rodeo Drive.

gsv

Does anyone know it's significance?

note the small plaque nearby.

LOL. I dunno. It just seems like there's a more direct view of the gas tanks from the window than would be possible from the south end of the building.

take a look at this wonderfully noirish photograph of an "electric color fountain".

huntington archive (possibly a repeat for nla)

So this is along Santa Monica Blvd., right?

update:
It's at Wilshire & Santa Monica Blvd. (Thanks Hoss!)

gsv

huntington archive

I really like this photograph...it's so lush!

odinthor, we need your expertise...what's the plants at the base of the fountain? (is there such a thing as 'elephant ear' plant/)

and I'm also curious about the tall plants (more like grasses) at the far right-----> what are those?

Isn't this the fountain on the corner of Santa Monica and Wilshire Boulevards?

Thanks Hoss.

I just corrected by post before I saw your info. (honest)

I'm a bit embarrassed I didn't recognize it right off the bat.

Cyperus papyrus (papyrus sedge, paper reed, Indian matting plant, Nile grass)....we used to have this in our backyard in the 1960s.

Stainless steel!

"7-foot by 15-foot polished stainless steel boulder sculpture."

Here's another mystery rock. (north side of Wilshire near Carmelita Ave.)

I don't think this one has a plaque.
