Manchester Unity Building

This is Melbourne's favourite building. Constructed in 1928-31, at the height of the depression. The building in part of 'the golden mile' on Collins Street. This street has 4 of the most architecturally lauded skyscrapers in the world. Including 101 Collins, 120 Collins, Rialto Towers and Collins Place (Melbourne's twin towers)

The top of that building bears a striking resemblance to the Tribune Tower in Chicago.

Indeed it does; this building was actually inspired by Raymond Hood's winning design for the Tribune Tower. The designer Marcus Barlow was forthcoming in this, bringing to the Southern Hemisphere a fine example of the Gothic Modern Style. He designed many of Melbourne's finest building during the 'roaring twenties'.
