Aberdeen Scotland

Some photos of the area around Union street, there is a lot more to a Aberdeen but I didn't have the time to get to see them.Aberdeen is a small city of 200,000 it has a unique look as most of the city is built from the local stone, granite.

HOPE YOU ALL HAD A GOOD HOGMANAY

Predictably lovely... I noticed the repurposed churches. I wonder what they're used for now. Looks like one is a nightclub of some sort.

Great tour - I love this shot - amazing variety of styles. Some of those shots reminded me a bit of Bath, in an unexpected way!

Nice set of pics. Looks a lot like Edinburgh. Isn't Aberdeen a base for oil workers stationed offshore in the North sea?

Great shots. What an interesting place (save for the pizza hut) with fabulous architecture.

Well spotted a lot of the protestant churches all over Scotland have been transformed in to pubs, clubs and restaurants as so few people attend church. The catholic churches are doing OK because of the Polish immigrants

Aberdeen is almost as far North as Juneau, Alaska, just googled Kurt Cobain didn't know he came from Aberdeen, Washington always thought it was Seattle.

Yes I thinks Aberdeen is the centre of Europe's petroleum industry.

Great thread! We don't see much of Scotland around here. Aberdeen looks like an interesting place, and the photos themselves are very well done too.

I really like how most of these are shot in some sort of angle. Great photos of a beautiful looking city. Thanks!

Very nice, my great grandfather was born in Aberdeen and immigrated to Calgary in 1905, he died in ww1 and is supposedly buried there in Aberdeenshire(St.Peter's) cemetery, one day I hope to make a pilgrimage.....
